The last "How did you find America's Debate" topic (here) was started waaaaaaaay back in 2002. It's about time that we start a new one.

It's nice to know how people find us, so thanks for participating!

I found this site when I was reading an article that fired me up. I googled the topic and added debate to the end of it and poof, here I came to you! So far I love the fact that we can express our opinions without being childish and derogatory toward each other. I am a huge fan of the "no vugarity" rules. People sound so stupid when they attach profanity to their arguements. (I need to take my own advice sometimes when I speak. Old Marine habits sometimes take a long time to get out of... ermm.gif Pouting now...)

I had been walking around for some time thinking about what is wrong with the public debate, I came up with the answer that, there are to many opinions out there and not enough facts backed up by proper sources. So I started wondering if there is some way to solve the problem, and as a starting point I started wondering if the structure of online debating could be changed (as it tends to be rather chaotic and difficult to follow). This made me search for a debate forum to get involved in, but I wanted a serious one! I believe the search words I used were: "Constructive online debate forum" which lead me here!
Imagine my surprise when the first topic I ran into was "Is the world changing?, Is "truthiness" the new fact?" which, pretty much, adresses the exact issue that made me start wondering in the first place.
I find that funny somehow. tongue.gif

Anyway, I am looking forward to some constructive discussions, and I will do my very best to, not only follow the rules, but even try to set a good example.

I was doing some reading on the fundamental differences in perspective between Republicans and Democrats and stumbled onto this site through a link about Jonathan Haidt's Moral Foundations. I wish I remembered which site had the link, but, I'm glad it was there. I am very impressed (and a tiny bit intimidated) by the level of discussion and the commitment to standards that is clearly evident. Thank you.

I took that quiz as well. Apparently, I use fewer moral senses than both liberals and conservatives, but I score higher than either in the ones I do use. I'm not sure what that makes me...a moral specialist? innocent.gif

I found ad.gif through the radio/podcast. Then I got abducted by the mothership. I just couldn't get enough. w00t.gif

Hello!

I used the wording "political debate sites" on the Google search engine. America's debate was the fourth entry on the first page. I hope that the information helps.

Cordially,

I found this place simply by searching for "political debate" in Google. This wasn't the first place that came up, but I joined many and this was one.
