Article II of the United States Constitution states, in part the following.....
QUOTE No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States. For purposes of debate the following amendment is proposed...... "This amendment eliminates the Article II requirement in the United States Constitution that a person be a natural born citizen in order to be eligible to hold the office of the President of the United States and replaces it with the following: Any citizen who has attained the age of thirty five years and and has been a citizen of the United States for a period of at least twenty years and been a resident for fourteen of those years within the United States shall be eligible to hold the office of President." Simple question for debate...... Do you vote YAY or NAY on this proposal? This post has been edited by Aquilla: Mar 5 2004, 11:12 PM |
