Another very hard decision. I'll go with this one from moif:

QUOTE
I try to judge people by their actions and not their opinions.

Simple and profound.

QUOTE(catquas)
I am going to vote for, advocate, and push for a government which enforces what I think is right. It only makes sense for other people to do so as well.
BoF
QUOTE(Paladin elspeth)
Perhaps not everything is meant to be quantified to satisfy our curiosity.

I would like to nominate the above line by Paladin Elspeth. It is from post #9 on this thread:

While it is a simple statement, PE in her own gentle way has reminded us that the complexities of life cannot always be quantified, measured or analyzed or whatever.

Asked whether he was happy that no WMD where found in Iraq, Ranciduncle had this to say.
QUOTE
Are you happy that no WMDs have yet to of been found?
QUOTE(RancidUncle)
I'm elated. I'm elated an aggressive dictator didn't have dangerous weapons that could have been used against our troops. I must hate America.

Fixed now.

This sums up AD for me...Great quote Doclotus!

QUOTE(Doclotus)
I think if the framers of the Constitution had a time machine and could witness AD's community as it relates to the first amendment, they would say "Yeah, that's it. That's why!"

This just recent quote made by Lordhelmet.

QUOTE
Massive body of evidence? One does not grade a term paper based on the number of pages included.

There are sooooooooooooooooo many good quotes out there from individual members it is nearly impossible to choose just one. However, the following from ConservPat is just too darn good and right on the money when it comes to my personal views.

BRAVO CP!!

QUOTE(ConservPat @ Jun 14 2005, 05:00 PM)
QUOTE
Who best represents the interests of the middle class?

Hmmmm, who is looking out for the middle class...The rich, white, influential, politically connected, Big Business hugging guys on the right or the rich, white, influential, politically connected lawyer hugging guys on the left? The answer to your question is no one.

In the Flag Burning Amendment thread, I had to choose between two really good ones (Wertz' and Christopher's). I'm not sure if Wertz' would qualify (due to it's age) so I'll pick Christopher's quote:

QUOTE
Christopher
...Freedom is much more than parades and banners. it is the hard work of standing up for freedom--even when you disagree with others..

I really liked Titus' catchy quote in the Flag Burning Amendment thread:

QUOTE
5,000 years from now, if our nation has faded into the archives of historical record, America will not be remembered for what standard it flew, but what it flew for.

QUOTE(AuthorMusician @ May 31 2005, 01:21 AM)
Mrs. Bush doesn't know what it is like to be an average American citizen in today's
political and economic climate. Upon second thought, she does not get my vote
for anything.

I suppose she's a nice lady. With little to worry about, people tend to be nice.
The rest of us get a little pissy when the street looms ahead.

Quote taken from Madam President Laura Bush? (post#9)

I fail to see how anybody could call themselves a conservative and vote for Bush.

QUOTE(BoF @ Apr 14 2005, 08:17 PM)
If you are talking about breaking the law, then no DeLay hasn’t been charged with anything yet.

He has, however, been admonished three times by the Republican controlled House Ethics Committee.

Resignation does not necessarily hinge on indictment and conviction.

<snip>

No criminal charges were ever filed against Jim Wright or Newt Gingrich, yet both of them resigned.

I would lay odds that DeLay is eventually forced from his leadership job and out of Congress. Let's just say the smaller rats will throw the big rat overboard.

I nominate this post/quote as one of the best AND most prophetic posts of the year. While parts are snipped, it 'cuts to the chase' rather well and we'll just have to wait to see how prophetic it is.

My favorite part of the post? Thinking forward to when BoF posts "Looks like the rats have a lighter boat to row." Row, Row, Row, Your Boat.

Thanks to BoF for his penchant for dry humor and clever sarcasm. He is blessed with quite a fair amount of researching and debating skill and a very special 'down-home' way to express and present both of them.

Even though our Patron Saint, Jaime, is AND SHOULD BE against one-liners, every once in a while I wish there were a topic HERE called America's One-Liners because just reading "Let's just say the smaller rats will throw the big rat overboard." is like getting up in the morning and opening the newspaper and having Doonesbury or Charlie Brown brighten your day.

Jaime, thanks for this place and it's necessary rules. BoF, thanks for a few tidbits of well-placed humor while reading the serious subjects on which we expound.

Reading some of BoF's posts are as fun as getting a birthday card with an adorable puppy on it. You don't think about the little critter chewing the funiture or ruining the rug. You just like the cute little furry package it comes in.

QUOTE
I would rather someone burn the flag and wrap themselves in the Constitution than burn the Constitution and wrap themselves in the flag.

I nominate Wertz's quote in Flag burning amendment, if it passes.......

Very true and very prophetic words...Bravo Wertz flowers.gif us.gif
Wertz
In good conscience, I should humbly decline lederuvdapac's nomination. I was quoting something I had previously posted in a similar debate a year or so ago - and in the original post mentioned that it was something that I'd heard, but for which I could find no attribution. So, I'm afraid it wasn't original. blush.gif

Thanks, though, leder. flowers.gif (And I agree with you about the quote. thumbsup.gif)

EDITED TO ADD: That probably means you can submit another nomination.

I nominate Lederuvpac's great quote about liberal progressive policies:

QUOTE
People are not accepting many liberal progressive policies because they do not see them as progressing to anywhere they want to be.
