) I think they are referring to Gulf War Syndrome - which has been in many cases disabling to those that suffer.
The latest thing I saw was, I think it was in US News and World Report, that there is some thought that there were whiffs of Seron gas around the battlefield. Whether this was a result of Saddam's purposefully doing this (he does have a history of using gas) - or as a result of bombing of places where the gas was stored, is unresolved.
But to the vet so affected, where it came from is immaterial. I don't think this has been killed with silence, I have seen quite a bit of material on it but I think no one knows for sure the cause.
