I'm new here, so I thought I'd take a little time to introduce myself.

As my name suggests, I'm a big car fan, despite being a member of the greens. I own a 1998 Facelift Toyota Supra (hence Inline-six) that does 0-60mph in well under 5 seconds and has a top speed of about 185mph (300km ish). cool.gif It is my pride and joy, and I'll post a photo when I have a digital one. (Still haven't got into that digi thing yet!)

I am 25, and am a marketing executive for a consultancy over here in the UK. I plan one day to own my own business, but am first getting as much high-end experience as I can, working with the MD of the consultancy (Since I'm still a young-un, as many of you might quickly point out!).

I have been a member of the greens for a number of years, and see them as the true alternative in our current political system that is stagnated and impotent. I live in Oxford - yes the famous university town - after growing up in London.

What else shall I say?...This year I am planning a holiday around Eastern Europe during winter, and hope to make it to a number of their wonderful opera houses - as Opera, and classical music more generally, is a great passion of mine. Are there any other similar nuts around here? biggrin.gif

Thats all I can think of right now...I look forward to some truly informative discussions to which I hope I can usefully contribute. smile.gif

Welcome! It's good to see some more Greens at AD! It will also be interesting to learn more about UK Greens.

Welcoome to the forum 6. smile.gif

I was wondering what your name meant. I don't even own a driving license... cars mean very little to me I'm afraid. tongue.gif
Inline-six
I was equally glad to see some US greens too! smile.gif

I often wish, when I see people like you, that the world was made entirely of compassionate women, and not vicious power hungry men.

(But then I am the one who drives a 600BHP car! blush.gif)

Six refers to the number of cylinders, inline refers to how they are layed out. Hence why all V's (V6,V8,V10,V12) are arranged in a V; itwas invented to literally fit bigger engines in a smaller space.

Inline Sixes, however, were at one point in time, especially in some British Sports cars, very common. The Supra is an inline six, and an inline six looks like this:

Welcome from another US Green. flowers.gif

I know absolutely nothing about cars. huh.gif

I'm not a big opera fa, but I enjoy classical music. I seem to prefer chamber music over orchestral music, and the Baroque and Classical periods over others. There are great masterpieces of all periods, of course.

What are some of your favorite operas?
Inline-six
Hi Victoria, I have several favourite Operas.

I am a big fan of Strauss, with Die fledermaus and Elektra high on the list.

I also am very fond of Don Carlos, and Verdi more generally. Duke Bluebeard by Bela bartok is another of my favs.

As for singers, I love Boris Christoff; infact, I am obsessed by him. Have you heard him? Baritones are generally my favourites.

Not only another Brit, but one from just up the road from Swindon! Welcome to ad.gif

I'm not especially green in my politics, though I have more than a little sympathy for the green agenda (in common with many others on the UK left under 50).

I drive a VW Corrado. Not the VR6, I'm afraid, but the 2.0 16v goes plenty fast for me, as my driving licence can testify.
