If it was up to me the major athletes who supposedly entertain us should have a maximum salary of 5 million dollars. IF why is a question look at it this way, major league baseball's minimum salary is 200,000 dollars. So in the jist of things you can sit in the dugout and watch major league games and make 200,000 dollars or you can lead a country in a time of need for only 50,000 dollars more. Every baseball team but one is losing money this year, i wonder why. Is it that oblivious to everybody why. Players are making more than 10 times what the most needed people in this country make. So ill never support this strike, the owners are right. I thought i wouldn't ever say it but its true. Who gets hurt more owners or players? How about neither, the fan is. We watch them for entertainment. It sure is entertaining that our role models can't love the game and have to resolve on money. It's rediculous. And to Mike.....its stupid "Stupid like a fox"

Baseball needs a swift kick in the pants.

I personally think the baseball players should milk every last dollar that they can from the team.

I also think the team owners should try to pay the players the least amount possible.

This is how it works. It's called negotiation.

But I guess that's not really why I'm posting.

I'm posting because I partially funded the worst baseball stadium in the Unites States or Canada.

If you've ever been to The "New" Comisky Park, home of the White Sox, you know what I mean.

This atrocity was paid for 100% by the fine people of Illinois, or the generous visitors to the city of Chicago via a 2% hotel tax.

So now, when the players and teams are squabbling, I have to wonder what sort of voice the people who actually bought these teams' homes have in the matter. What exactly did we get for our $167 million?

I agree with JohnProia, in both his verbiage and his message: Baseball needs to get it's act together. And fast.

I am a fan of one of those dead team too, the Angels, they use to be so bad that the city they lived in didn’t want them to be called Anaheim Angeles. That all changed when Disney bought them of course, but this year the Angels are tied for first…and my prediction is that they will be in first come August 30th. Just in time for the greedy managers and players who both forgot what the love for the game is to strike. Leaving my team out when they were doing soo good.

I would like to paraphrase something I heard on The Daily Show. The only thing that would keep the players from striking is the fact that would mean they would be stuck having sex with only their wives.

Looks like all the overpaid babies have pacified themselves...for now.

But how many of you out there ever see yourselves attending a major league game again?

I don't plan on it! Between the almost-strike, steroid issues, and a frickin' tied All-Star Game. . .I have rally lost my taste for Professional Baseball.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!! biggrin.gif

I third that. And take the Cubs with you.

I bet you this strike was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

But anyways...

I haven't been to a ball game in about 5 years. And when I did go, it's because the tickets were free.

I don't plan on going to any games anytime soon, as the closest team is at least 4 hours away, I think.

But, I'll likely go see the Savannah Sand Gnats at good ol' Grayson Stadium. They're a minor league team for the Rangers. Tickets are ~$5.

The minor league players are the real deal. The work hard and get paid little. They have to do "chores" at the stadium, like pitch in on maintainence. They always sign autographs, and you can have a hot dog and soda with them after the game. Now that's baseball.
