Fast. Real fast.
I had undergone some exams not too long ago to rule out lung cancer as a possible cause of some respiratory problems I am having.
Scary waiting for test results some times.
I suppose I could say at least it wasn't drawn out.
Too bad he was one of the least aggravating newspersons out there.

This is sad news for journalism for he was one of the journalist's on TV that wrote his own stuff that he reported. I didn't watch his show alot, but when I did I always came away with something.

I remember Peter Jennings' account of 9-11 on the radio. On that incredible morning, it was his voice on ABC Radio (I am sure a simul-cast of the network version) that informed me of what was going on. He did a great job.
Jennings had an air of professionalism that was unrivalled in the new media.

Amlord summed up my thoughts as well. I turned off the TV on 9-11 and just listened to ABC news. His level of professionalism in the national media will be sorely missed.

Peter Jennings was one of the only TV anchors I had any respect for. His professionalism, his calm demeanor, and his character will be sorely missed.
There were those who went to school to become Journalists because they admired Walter Cronkite. For my Generation, Peter Jennings was our Walter Cronkite IMHO.
You will be missed Peter. My sympathies to your family and friends.
I hope, that as people explore your career through the various tributes and memorials, that they will come away with an idea of what journalism is, and is supposed to be, and not what most others besides yourself have turned it into today.
Rest peacefully.

I grew up watching Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw.
This evening I saw part of an interview with Tom Brokaw,
in regards to Peter Jennings. He was asked about
his first memories of Peter, and he responded that
Peter Jennings was a very heavy smoker. He went
on to discuss the negative effects that cigarette smoking
have caused in America; economically, environmentally,
physically, and worst of all:
Having to say good-bye to someone before his time.
He was a fine journalist and a very respectable human
being.

I did not see that this thread had already been started.
I will miss Peter Jennings. He was a true professional. His death came so soon!
So many good people have been lost to us due to the consequences of smoking. I can't understand why young people in particular continue to take up the habit in the face of so much evidence that it is dangerous. I hope that Jennings' passing will provide that extra encouragement to someone to lose the habit for good.

I was sorry to see the passing of Peter Jennings. He was truly a great Newsperson and will be missed.
Not to make light of his death, a teller I work with were talking and I said I was sorry to here he passed. She said who is Peter Jennings?
Oh my age is showing!!!!
