Questions for Debate:

1.) How should America respond to this news from Hamas?

2.) Should America become involved at all? Why or why not?

3.) Will this cause any hesitation on Israel's part of pulling out from the Gaza Strip?

Questions for Debate:

1.) How should America respond to this news from Hamas? America should respond the way we always did to the threats from Hamas. Give moral support to Israel. There isn't much that we can do to Hamas.

2.) Should America become involved at all? Why or why not? To a certain extent be involved. It is clear that no treaty will stop these terrorist savage attacks. Terrorist don't act upon treaties but what they personally believe. The only thing America can do at this time is try and offer another peace treaty, although it will probley be in vane. And got forbid allow Israel with a coalition to invade Palestine. Thats who we should really be attacking, a country that supports the cause of terrorist.

3.) Will this cause any hesitation on Israel's part of pulling out from the Gaza Strip?
It is unlikley that it will cause any 'hesitation' on Israel's part. Israelis want to be seen as 'the good guys', pulling out will make the Palestinan terrorist look like they are evil.

It should be noted here that Hamas does not speak for the "official" leaders of the Palestinians.

From your linked story:

QUOTE
In a direct challenge to the Palestinian Authority, the Hamas leadership positioned itself in front of the group's logo and a green Islamic flag to send a message that they have the right to possess weapons and to claim responsibility for pushing Israel out of the Gaza Strip.

(Bold added for emphasis.)

1. Denounce Hamas; support the Palestinian Authority and Israel.

2. Other than offering moral support, as noted above, this must be settled by the people living there, or it will not be settled at all. The USA can do little but hope for the best.

3. I don't think so. Did anybody really expect Hamas to announce that it would give up fighting?

I agree with Victoria Silverwolf when she asked if anyone actually believed that Hamas would end fighting? This is a terrorist group. They will not be satisfied until they push the Israelis out of the West Bank and out of Jerusalem through the only means they know how...murder.

The decision by the Israeli government to appease the terrorists will only incite MORE violence and MORE terrorist attacks because groups like Hamas believe it is THEIR actions of violence that prompted this favorable outcome. You give them an inch and now they want a mile.

The problem is that the Palestinian government has absolutely no control over the Palestinian terror organizations. I truly want to believe that there are some people in the Palestinian government who want peace to the fighting. But whatever negotiations or treaties they successfully establish are meaningless because the terrorist groups are not bound by any rule of law.

America should be consistent with its overall stance in the War on Terror. Denounce the violence aimed at civilians and freeze any and all assets of groups and organizations here in America that raise money to fund these terror groups. There is very little that they can do with this situation. Its feud that has been going on for ages and will not be solved until both Israelis and Palestinians alike denounce the violence and make a true strive for peace.
