"Increased, Israel is under the threat of every Arab nation wanting to wipe them out. Complete extermination would befall the land of Israel if we appeared to not care or abandon the country, it is important that Israel be maintained and perfected security-wise."
A poster said the above comment- so why do we support them at all?
1) Isreal is a product of our own making- they hadn't existed as a nation for 2000 years! They were an ethnic group, a persecuted one for sure, but no more persecuted than our own American Indian- in fact, we are far more genocidal towards our own American Indians than the rest of the world was to the Jews- we were pretty much succesful in our Genocide. Why aren't we supporting a homeland for the Kurds? They have a much more recent history as both a persecuted poeple and a large ignored ethnic group that is AT LEAST as deserving of a "homeland" as the Jewish poeple-
1) Why do we support a nation that is clearly the most destablizing part of the mid-east equation- I mean, would we have any of our mid east problems if there were no Isreal?
2) Why are we so inconsistant with our stance on righting wrongs of genocide, but only for one ethnic group? Why haven't we set up a homeland for our own American Indians, completely soveriegn, in thier original areas, and those folks living in that area already can just accept the new American Indian goverment- right? And fighting back makes you a terrorist- remember that!
3) If Isreal was not given a homeland, say, the Balfour declaration in 1917 and then the homeland issue didn't come up in 1948- would the middle east be as unstable today?
