This afternoon, I was taking an afternoon nap between an early morning teaching shift and the evening teaching shift. I had a dream, that unfortunately may explain a bad event about to take place in America in the foreseeable future.

It was very dark outside and I was sitting in a castle with some Kings and rulers and was eating lunch. A loud banging noise was heard on the roof. Shortly, there were fireballs coming into the cafeteria from the ceiling. The castle was being attacked by wicked witches. I stood up and told everyone to get out of the room. Next to me, there was an American bald eagle.

I told the eagle to fly out over the forest and tell everyone that the castle was under attack from evil witches. I also told the eagle not to pluck any fruit from any of the trees. The eagle flew out to do his job.

Here is a description of the forest. In the forest, there was no grass. The ground was very dry and hard. The trees themselves had no leaves or fruit on them. However, there was one tree that stood out. On this particular tree, there was a telephone sitting on one of the branches. The bald eagle flew down to fetch that telephone. Unfortunately, the consequences were dire.

After the eagle attempted to get the telephone, the ground and the trees started to disintegrate and fall very quickly. The Bald Eagle and the other birds started doing the same things. A few moments later, the Bald Eagle reappeared and was obviously dead. The Bald Eagle looked as if he had been ran over and flattened by a large truck. The ground itself later reappeared but there were no trees whatsoever and it was very dark outside. I ran to a friend and we prayed for a miracle, but the miracle didn't happen.

I have my own opinion about what the dream represents but will consult a friend of mine for his opinion before doing so. I would be curious to see what everyone else's interpretation is.

Over the decades of providing 24x7 support for massive data centers, my sleep patterns are all out of whack. Sometimes I take naps during the day, anywhere from one to three hours Right now, my time is flexible due to freelance writing while trying to get another techie gig.

My most vivid dreams come during the day naps. I figure that my brain has been trained, although not on purpose, to sleep lightly at night and thus I don't get enough REM sleep. The brain makes up for lost time during the day.

Lately, the vivid dreams have turned stranger and stranger. Your dream sounds like something that I'd have, but I'm discounting these as subconscious ramblings from all the random input throughout the day. The news is full of frightening images, from devastating natural disasters to wars and people blowing themselves up. The conscious mind has a problem figuring this all out, so the subconscious must be spinning around in circles.

Is it prophetic? Time will tell, but the imagery isn't far from the facts of where this country is headed. Still, there's hope. I get some pretty cool dreams now and then too. That has to be the terminal optimist in me.

Let me put on my Sigmund Freud hat and tell you this -- you are not having enough sex.

The castle is your self-esteem, your machoness, your male ego. The bald eagle is, well, captain winky -- or his alter-ego. The witches are your memory of women who have been mean to you in the past and present.

And here is how to interpret your dream. You, my friend, are yearning for a new relationship. There is part of you that says "let cpt. winky" do the talking, but there is also a part of you saying "show your sensitive side and talk about how you were hurt by witches before." You decided to go with a combined approach through a phone call. And the result is really, really bad -- cpt. winky is squashed.

Anyway, moral of the story, you cannot be sensitive and straight at the same time. Just let cpt. winky do the talking.
