After a savaging review and other unfriendly reviews in the media in general, the Huffington Post has been alive and kicking. While I'm not certain as to it's "hit" numbers, a sizable number of people do post their thoughts on her blog and it appears that all is well.

Debate questions:

1.)Does the Huffington Post have staying power?

2.)What will bring about it's downfall or perhaps ability to surpass Drudge?

3.)Did you expect the site to fail by now?, if so, why hasn't it?

Here are some other interesting links:

1.)Does the Huffington Post have staying power? It has been a long time since I hit it, but did tonight and it is much better than the last time I was there. Thus I will pass the word to my friends, isn't that how it works... nice thread...

2.)What will bring about it's downfall or perhaps ability to surpass Drudge? Wish I could get numbers, will reserve my guess to beat Drudge.

3.)Did you expect the site to fail by now?, if so, why hasn't it?
I did not know it was that hated by the critics, that Matt Drudge thinks she will never have scoops is that just down right rude of him to say such a thing. What is his problem with others success?

It's down fall will be boring, uninspired opinion placed where news should be, as well as a lack of scooping stories. Drudge is the King of the Scoop. He has been since the Stained Dress.

No, the people who post on the site have way too much money not to have a nice forum to congratulate each other on being great and brilliant, or to hate the President. Especially since it's really cheap to host a site compared to their own budgets.

Here's to them waisting money... beer.gif

Arriana's interactive Blog is not new, perhaps new to you. Ms. Huffington is always a repected guest on political debate shows. She knows her business and is willing to debate her politics with no fear on national television, besides she's somewhat HOT. Ive never seen Matt Drudge bother to get off his couch to be seen anywhere or take a single question.
I didnt know Drudge had an interactive blog site. Am I wrong? Does Drudge have an interactive blog?

People actually write something for the Huffington Post and public comment is encouraged. Drudge is a news consolidation site. Drudge does no creative work, his opinions are simply backed by the news he repeats. He has long been a hollywood gossip hound, akin to a tabloid newspaper. And you know, MAtt Drudge is Hollywood based, not usually so popular with the Hollywood hating crowd, with no degree, no experience in politics, but an ear for gossip, and he does it well.

Arent you talking about apples and oranges here?

What is the controversy in your mind? Internet hits? Or are you more angry about the content of a competing liberal site? Come on, your bias is evident, but with what reasoning? Shall we have the World according to Garp, alone?

I enjoy some things about the Huffington Post and others I find inane. I also read Drudge early in my day because if THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END, Drudge will have it. Or if Paris Hilton has a new sex video, I will be THE FIRST to KNOW!

I suppose you mean 'wasting'. I wouldnt worry about Arriana's money, I doubt it is a drop in the bucket with her professional and political status. Drudge? UH, no resume, I doubt he moves too far from his bong to consider much more than that his site will pay his rent.

All in all its a non issue.

I read the Huffington Post every day. I don't agree with a lot of stuff on there, but I don't tend to migrate to what I agree with anyhow. I listen to Rush and Hannity everyday on the radio and I think they are both bona-fide idiots.

But I think it is little ironic that conservatives hate the site when many, many views on there are far more conservative than this administration. The conservatives that haven't figured out that Bush is the most liberal president in decades need to start paying a little more attention. And getting their info from freepers and the National review (both sites of which I frequent regularly) won't help their understanding one bit.

Arrianna's site will do just fine thank-you-very-much. It's less partisan than freerepublic.com, nationalreview.com, or lucianne.com anyday.

Actuallly Drudge makes several appearances on cable news and he has his own radio show which is one of the most widely listened to shows in the nation.

And let me just set the record straight...Arianna Huffington is not hot sour.gif . She is old, wears too much makeup and has a shrill voice.

To my knowledge Matt Drudge is not a gossip columnist, but to each his own. He might have started out in those low ranks but today his site is at the top of the news blog game and no one competes with him. Not even the cable news chanel sites. He is the man who scoops everyone.

If I'm not mistaken I think it was Ms Huffington herself who first said her site was going to "take on Drudge". But I agree with you, not much competition there.

I don't have a bias here. I simply stated that her site was boring and uninspired. Rarely do I see anything on that page that passes for wit or excellence. If she had a good site I would say so.

News is news and news junkies want it all, from a dress stained with the Presidential DNA, to Paris Hilton, to Cindy Sheehan and her people outside Crawford, all the way to New Orleans for Katrina. I am a news junkie and I want as much about everything as I can get my eyes on.

To my knowledge most of her wealth comes from a divorce settlement, and if you're a news junkie I would read that story it's very interesting to see what kind of political beliefs she held before her Republican husband left her for another man. And to my knowledge she has no political career. While she did run for Governor and was a high profile candidate she dropped out of the race a day before the LA Times was to print that she had less than 1% of the vote in California. But I never worried about her money anyways, I have my own even if it a is a lot less. laugh.gif

You must not be familiar with Matt Drudge because that doesn't sound like him.

That is quite certain. Let's not get caught up in a mess about who is better. My only claim is that her site is boring. Sorry Artemise, I like Drudges site better.
