I only had it when I was a child, but I also heard that when you get Chicken Pox as an adult it is a really nasty disease. ill.gif
I hope you will get well soon. flowers.gif

sorry i don't have any advice. hope you hang in there the best you can. i had chicken pox twice (!) as a kid and it wasn't any fun then either. still have the scars...

I've heard adult chicken pox can be very very serious, which is an argument against the chicken pox "vaccine": they aren't sure it will prevent adult onset of the disease.

I hope you feel better, Sleeper!!

Have some chicken soup for revenge!! devil.gif Stay away from aspirin!!

Ouch! Shingles!

I've actually heard that you're far more likely to develop shingles as an adult if you HAD chickenpox as a child, not if you were vaccinated. Having had chickenpox does not make you immune to shingles.

Here's a link with some ideas for relief, including cold wet compresses, and the cornstarch bath that I was going to recommend before I went surfing. That's what I recall my mother doing for me when I had the chickenpox.

Sleeper, I hope you've seen a doctor about this. Chicken Pox and/or Shingles (not sure if there's a difference) can be an extremely serious problem for adults. There are anti-viral drugs out there that can treat them as well as topical anti-biotics to prevent infection, but they are all prescription medication (and expensive). My son went through a bout with them awhile ago and they even prescribed Vicodan for the pain. It's a pretty nasty and dangerous condition.

Awww Sleeper,

This is just what you need after all you've been through
this year. sad.gif My only suggestion would be to do as others
have mentioned and get the proper medicine.

I hope by Christmas you'll be feeling better so you can
enjoy the holiday season with your beautiful family. flowers.gif

Thanks for the concern all... I went to my doctor today and he gave me some Rx's for skin infection and the anti-biotic made for chicken pox(and yes it is expensive).
The thing that worries me the most at this point is scarring.

Have a Merry Christmas

Sleeper, I wish you much rest and liquids, and an uneventful recovery. You've gotten plenty of good advice from the other posters here.

Hope you're better for Christmas. flowers.gif

Sleeper,
I had shingles when I was 20. Boy, that was not fun at all. As far as I remember, warm (not hot) baths were the only remedy for all the pain. Good luck! Hope you feel better soon (and you will in a couple of days).
