Mike and I plan on being home tonight, so I can be there. I'll have to duck out at some point though because we are going to try recording the sounds of Savannah at midnight. Here in the Savannah we get an amazing assault of gun barrage at the break of the New Year and we're hoping to make a record of it.
Last year we had friends down for the holiday. They were from the Chicago 'burbs. They didn't seem to believe Mike and me when we insisted that midnight in Savannah sounded like the middle of a battlefield. A few minutes before the bewitching hour, we all headed out to our front porch. The hour struck and the deluge of shots began. No doubt, our friends were impressed.
One of them decided to call a buddy back home. He yelled into his phone, "Listen to this man! It's crazy here." He held up his phone and with that, we get a rapid succession of gunfire that was VERY
VERY close, far too close for comfort. "To the back!" I say, and we all headed around for the relative safety of our backyard. The next few minutes consisted of comments like, 'You weren't kidding' 'Holy *expletive* that *expletive* was close' and simply, 'Woah.'
Hopefully Savannah won't disappoint again this year and we will be able to share with you an audio reason not to mess with southern homeowners.
Happy New Year's ADers! See ya in the chatroom.
(And yeah, Jubes, we'll have a normal
1st chat. I should get around to posting an announcement, eh?
