I am not particularly good at these introductions.

I am a twenty-five year old disabled college dropout from Cheyenne, Wyoming. I'm currently working on Vocational Rehabilitation and professional writing in an attempt to do something useful with my life. My interests include "geek" culture, politics, futurism, and philosophy.

I am ill-defined and ill-served by the current state of partisan politics; the most frustrating aspect of our two-party system is that none of the "fringe" third parties represent my views better than the two major parties. I am registered as a Democrat primarily for the purposes of voting in the primary elections and to support local Democrats, but I am generally irritated with the party on a national level.

I am a veteran of IRC political discussion, but I prefer the slower and more reasoned pace of Web-based forums. I found this forum by searching Wikipedia after more conventional methods of finding websites-- search engines-- proved absolutely useless for locating good discussion sites.

Any further information about my interests and my positions will likely come out as I participate more in this forum, but I'm pretty open about answering any questions people are forward enough to ask. smile.gif

Welcome to the forum, Korimyr the Rat.

Your party affiliation statement reminds me of my high school government teacher who encouraged everyone, regardless of their political leanings, to register as a Democrat. His reasoning---they have primaries. Republicans rarely had primaries (this was the late '80s) because they were by far the smaller party. He thought voting in the primaries was important for some reason.

I never did register as a Democrat... hmmm.gif

Anyway, I look forward to reading your contributions.

You should check out our State of the Union Chat tonight. We run our own private IRC server just for AD. Rest assured, there is never much actual debate in the chat room. We use it to unwind, shoot the breeze, and point out the shortcomings of leaders.

Well how about that! A member, Crashfourit, just setup a Wiki page about us (here). I guess that worked out pretty well.

Of course, you could have just Googled political debate and clicked on the first result.... ph34r.gif

Heh. Yeah, originally. Was using it in a Shadowrun online game. Couldn't find the right channel, wandered into the old DALnet #politics... and it stuck. This was about five years ago-- now it's practically as much my name as the one my mother gave me.
