How many other novels did Ellison publish before his death in 1994?
None?
That's correct. Ellison's second novel was destroyed when his house caught fire in 1967. In 1981, Ellison quipped : "If I'm going to be remembered as a novelist, I'd better produce a few more books."
Ellison died thirteen years later at the age of 80, never haven written a second book (although he produced many many short stories and essays).

After serving in the U. S. Army in France I went on to be the first black American to obtain a doctorate in mathematics in the United States, who am I?
Elbert Frank Cox, from Cornell, in 1925. It was actually the first one awarded to a black anywhere in the world (mathematics was not a PhD subject in many universities at the time).
What self-educated black man published his own Farmer's Alamanac circa 1795?
