The recent events around the world which resulted from some drawings in a Danish newspaper have left me inexpressibly depressed. I think it is time to discuss the big question.

Let me make it clear here that I am only talking about the radical, Fundamentalist, violent wing of Islam, and not about those Muslims who are genuinely people of peace.

To be debated:

1. Is an all-out conflict between liberal, secular democracy and the oppressive branch of Islam inevitable?

2. If so, what will be the outcome?

I can see no hope if such a conflict must happen. Either the liberal, secular democracies must cease being any of those things, in order to "win," of the other side wins. Either way, we all lose.

My only hope is for an internal change within the diseased part of Islam before it is too late.
