Why should the West feel it has the right to tell Iran that it cannot develop its nuclear technology? Who are we to prevent another country from developing? Even if they were to develop nuclear weapons, why should they not, when so many other countries equally as headstrong have them and use them to threaten and bully other countries?

The main reason I have heard for stopping them researching nuclear energy is that they have previously threatened to wipe Israel from the face of the earth. But, they are not about to drop a nuclear weapon on them either, and to suggest they would is nothing more than propaganda. Not simply would it be virtual suicide, but the technology is years of research away. If we want peace in the middle east, surely you can only have true peace when both sides are treated equally.

At the moment doesn’t the situation seem little different to a bully and his gang picking on the new kid? "Oh those trainers are too good for you; you might hurt yourself running in them, so you'd better just hand them over."
