I am a Teller Supervisor in a Bank in Illinois. I was just transferred from a Bank in a different suburb. Matter of fact 13 days ago. It is closer to home etc. I was off today but had a meeting tonight. I got there and they told me that the Bank I was just transferred from was robbed yesterday.
It was reported in the Chicago Tribune that apparently a man came in and implied he had a gun and had a note which he handed the teller.
When we are hired we are trained and told what to do if a robbery takes place.
I know what I am supposed to do but if it really came down to it I wonder if I would Freak or what?
I was just wondering if anyone else has been in a situtation where there was a robbery in progress where they were working and how did you react or how do you think you would react? w00t.gif w00t.gif w00t.gif

If you don't mind me asking, what are you supposed to do when your bank get robbed? Is "freaking out" frowned upon by your present employer?

I was robbed in the parking lot of a shopping mall 5 years ago, a car drove up, two men (I use the term loosely) jumped out, grabbed my silver chain and muscled me against a car. They told me to take off the silver chain, (a $250 dollar present), and I matter-of-factly told them it was broken and wouldn't come off. They looked at eachother puzzled, huddled together, and then turned and asked me to give them my sneakers. I told them "no, I don't want to", a little indignant now, and then they pulled out a small caliber pistol. I happily gave them my shoes, and they thanked me for being so cooperative. I believe there exact words were "we're cool man, thanks" and then they jumped back in their car, but not before shaking my hand. It was an odd situation to say the least, but I believe my aloofness and ability to appear calm made them uncomfortable and maybe a little embrarrassed. Though not as embrarrassed as I felt walking around the mall in socks. One thing that always bothered me was why they chose to ask for my $35 dollars sneakers, and not the $100 dollars in my wallet?

I know if I was in that kind of situation, I would first and foremost, wet myself. just kidding, but seriously, I would do EXACTLY as the person robbing me said to do. being bold can get ya shot. I know if I was robbin' ya and you tried to get bold, I would cap you, then take anything of value.

Jacoer1,

We are told to remain calm do what ever they tell us to do. Do not talk to the teller next to you. Look at the robber and pay attention to see if they are wearing certain clothing, color of hair, eyes, facial hair, scars, tattoos etc.
Do not press the silent alarm till they are gone.
I think if the robber handed me a note I would not FREAK. I would do just the above.
However if I am looking down a barrel of a gun pointed at me I really don't know what I do.
And by the way there really are some stupid people out there who would take a damn pair of shoes for whatever reason tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif
