QUOTE
Disney World is the mirror - the Statue of Liberty is the slim-self photo pasted to the door of the refrigerator.

QUOTE(Lesly)
It’s the phallic symbol that matters Carlito, the phallic symbol!

Considering the subject was Dick Cheney, I think Lesly’s remark was classic.

Donttreadonme for this brilliant quote:

QUOTE
If a family cannot grieve and mourn a fallen loved one for a few moments in relative peace, in the name of preserving freedom of speech, then are we as a society even still deserving of that right?

From loreng59 here:

QUOTE
No Arab country is worth a single American life.

There is nothing on this planet I could agree with more.

I really liked this quote from Nighttimers post in the Zarqawi discussion:
QUOTE
But mostly, I'll keep reminding this board that Clinton's lies never killed anyone. George Bush's lies continue to kill and maim every day.

Strong clear message, precisely on point .... smile.gif

Eeyore, for the thruth (posted in CAIR Upset about Radiation tests):
QUOTE
I think the greatest real threat to most Americans is the government.
Titus

At the risk of sounding conceitied, I'm going to nominate my own words:

QUOTE
In other words, the road to Ramallah is paved with good intentions. It'd be nice if these small groups could provide social programs as well as Hamas, but they don't, and ideas don't put bread on the table. Intentions don't vaccinate children. Promises don't give them shoes.

I nominate newbie reepicheep's quote in this thread:

QUOTE
A nation is not free simply because it has elected representatives or even because its people value their liberty. Rather, a nation is free only when its people value the liberty of others.

The most recent post (which still qualifies) comes from Vermillion:

QUOTE(Vermillion)
Some people labour under the misapprehension that if you lived in Germany and were not a Jew (and were straight, and not a communist, and not handicapped, and not a gypsy, and voted for the Nazis, and could trace germanic heritage back to Frederick Barbarossa, and never spoke out) then you lived in a great place. This is entirely untrue.

Note to everyone: There are a few quotation nominations here that currently not valid because the person making the nomination did not link directly to the post that contained the quotation. If you're one of those people, you may repost with a link. If you don't, your nomination will not be included.

It seems the old way of linking a post doesn't work so well. I used to right click the post number and "Copy Shortcut" and then paste that in the url box. It seems that this now links to the thread and not the individual post. Left clicking on the Post number will bring up a pop up box that allows you to cut and paste the full url for direct linkage.
Lesly
Heterosexuals tackled the sexual liberty portion of this debate when sodomy between married couples was legalized. It only went further when States began removing their sodomy laws starting in 1961. Obviously, the religious majority have spoken... they want their sodomy.

By entspeak.

Titus

I'd like to rescind my nomination for my own quote. Thank you.

Nothing about linking directly to posts has changed in a long time. Left clicking once on the post number link that is at the top right of a post will get a box with a URL that you can cut & paste wherever you need to. smile.gif

My nomination for Best Quotation by a Member is Artemise.

QUOTE
I wont take the blame for society's hypocrisy and lies to themselves. I dont think the female is 'purer' than the man, so the rooster can run rampant while the hens are locked up. I have no need to please god or society to gain entrance into heaven. I was born equal and if society says that man is not responsible for his egregious acts of a sexual nature, than neither am I, and make a good buck off of HIS obvious weakness is in my mind only fair.

..Ok...here's a better one...by me, Titus.... ph34r.gif

QUOTE
In the end, what is more offensive? What is more of a threat to American tradition and culture? The destruction of a piece of cloth, or the slow destruction of the right to speak your mind, no matter who it upsets?
