Often, the most memorably "convincing" posts come from the more extreme points of view. But I'm going to go with this contribution by TheCook in the thread Should English be official language?. I wasn't entirely convinced by his conclusions, but it's one of the best (and most reasoned) explications of a moderate position that I've seen this year.
