My knowlege of Chinese geography is not the best so I looked up a brief description of Shandong Province on This Website and at Wikipedia. Is there anything about your part of China that you would like to add?

Best of luck in the USA. I'm sure you'll be disappointed to learn that DVD's and software CD's cost a lot more in this country. But, you'll find the Chinese food a bit better here on average.

Best wishes,

Ah, my fellow countryman. Welcome smile.gif

I think you will find this place interesting and most of the people intelligent. But of course, like on forums in China, posts do get deleted from time-to-time and there is a three-strikes rule.

Enjoy. cool.gif

Edit to add the following:
----------------------------

On a personal note, you are being too modest in stating that Yan Tai is a small city. smile.gif I don't think anyone born in China would agree with you on that one, I, for one, especially like the apples there. I think I've visited the naval museum there on a trip when I was 15, I've also dipped myself in the oceans in Qing Dao (formerly known as Tsing-Tao) and found out that people from Qing Dao do not drink Tsing-Tao beer but Lao Shan beer biggrin.gif , also climbed Mt. Tai Shan, but that's besides the point.

Anyway, welcome and have fun.

The people drink LaoShan beer because is cheaper than QingDao beer.but I think QingDao beer is better than LaoShan beer.

I read something about your part of China on the web and would be interested in learning more but first, tell us more about yourself. Are you a student? If so, at what level? What is the field you are studying or would like to study?

Are you allowed to participate in our debate topics where negative views of the Chinese government are sometimes voiced? (Actually this doesn't happen nearly as often as criticism of our own government's policies). Can you discuss the environmental situation in China and within Shandong Province?

I was born in Guangzhou but my ancestrial home is in Chong Qing, Sichuan. My uncle's wife is from Shan Dong though, which is why I went there with my cousin back when I was 15.

LOL, so LaoShan is cheaper than Tsing-Tao, no wonder my cousin's cousin insisted on LaoShan. shifty.gif

Zhang, you are a brave man. English is probably a difficult language like Chinese. One time, I went to http://www.zhongwen.com and posted a few comments. The only things I could write were a few simple phrases like "Ni hao" and "Wo shi laoshi". Good luck with your English.

Hi C.W.Zhang. Welcome to the forum.smile.gif

I have to ask that you only post in black text please. Thanks.

Mike
Mike
Alright, I've had to edit the heck out of this topic, and I'm going to explain why so everyone knows.

There were mangled [quote] tags that needed fixing. If anyone needs help on using the forum features, let me know.

There were posts entirely in red. Posts need to be in black please.

Lastly, there were inappropriate comments regarding the moderation of the forum made by a member who was, at the very time of his posts, being disciplined for continued use of inappropriate language on the forum.

Put simply, we would much prefer that new members get accurate information regarding the Rules. Members who have difficulty following the rules are obviously not a good source, and we would prefer that those members post their complaints to the appropriate place.

We have created a forum specifically for questions, comments, and suggestions (here), and also welcome members to contact the staff if any further clarification is needed.
