As a slightly more serious companion to our There Outta Be a Law Show, America's Debate Radio invites you to join us for our July 5th Super Fun Happy Big Amendment Extravaganza.

As a salute to our nation's birth, we would like you to share your ideas for Amendments to the Constitution. If you have an idea for an amendment that will help America, and if it may actually have a chance at passing maybe, possibly, someday, we want to hear from you.

As with the companion show, here is how to participate:

1. PM Mike or me with your suggestions and we'll read them on the air.

2. Post your suggestions to this thread and Mike and I will read them on the air.

3. Call-in to the America's Debate Radio voicemail and leave us a message. Please note that when you call, the voicemail is answered by a Norwegian sounding lady and she never mentions ad.gif in the outgoing message. Yes, you have the right number.

4. The BEST Option: Call-in after 9pm eastern on July 5th and share your Amendment ideas.

If you chose options 1-3, there are no limits to how many suggestions you make. If you call-in live we'll likely cut you off after 15 minutes, but you knew that from reading the other thread. And I hope I don't have to say this, but just in case - you don't have to be an American to participate in this special event show.

Put on your favorite fife and drum CD and inspire yourself to share in the Super Fun Happy Big Amendment Extravaganza Show! us.gif

I posted this idea on the "oughta be a law thread", not knowing there was a thread dedicated to constitutional amendments. Jobius was kind enough to direct me here, so I'll repost what I erroneously posted there.

I'd like an amendment restricting the power of taxation. It should require a supermajority to raise taxes, and tax rates should go down automatically a certain percentage every couple of years or so unless bumped back up by the required supermajority vote.

As I've been scheduled to work Wednesday nights almost every week since AD Radio started broadcasting and have no idea whether I'll be able to phone in or not, I'll post an amendment here that I first put forward in a Constitutional Amendment thread exactly three years ago, an amendment eliminating victimless crime:

"The Congress shall enact no law which shall limit the exercise of the natural rights of any person except those which assure to the other members of the society the enjoyment of the same rights."

Even more unrealistically, I'd like to see a codicil to the Fourteenth Amedment making it explicit that the word "person" means "human being", not "corporation".

Just to let you know, that amendment, as worded, could be construed as to give Congress increased power to deny us our natural rights.

I'm gonna try to go for option #4 since Jaime says it is the best.

So far as I can make out, this thread is for people to post suggestions for broadcast. If you have a better wording for an amendment, post it. If you wish to debate peoples' suggestions, start a new thread or call AD Radio after 9pm eastern on July 5th. thumbsup.gif

When you've had your fill of BBQ & fireworks, take a minute and think about what amendments you would add to the Constitution to secure our rights.

Then join us on July 5th, 9pm eastern, for the Super Fun Happy Big Amendment Extravaganza to share your ideas. And you if you can't make it, you can still join in on the fun (see my previous post for details).

Can't wait to hear from you! us.gif

I would like to have an amendment that requires private employers to honor 1st Amendment rights.

Thanks for the posts so far everyone.

Tonight's the show. Please give us a call to tell us your amendment ideas!

Talk to you tonight! smile.gif
