Hi, I'm Fernando Reyes. I'm currently a Political Science major at Yale University and I stumbled upon this debate forum and I decided to join, seems rather interesting.
I'm going to put my political philosophy as follows:
I'm socially, culturally, on the left. I'm pro gay marriage, gay adoption, for rights of fringe groups. However, I'm also pro-life. In regards to the seperation of church and state, I believe that the government itself should not attempt to promote it, however, communities, schools should be allowed to show their faith or lack of faith in whatever way they want as long as it does not violate the rights of the others (Meaning, if religion makes you uncomfortable, sorry. They aren't harming you in any way. For the record, I'm atheist.)
Economically, I believe we have an obligration to expand into the world market, but at the same time, must ensure that the average person in our natio is allowed an opportunity to make a better living and to have enough to provide for his or her family.
Foreign policy, I am advocate of human rights and democracy and I believe that our military should be used as a tool to compelte this mission.
Iraq, I believe that we are already there. Discussing when we should get out or why we are there is nto as important as ensuring that Iraq prospers.
Well there we go :0
Some small viewpoints, I hope to make a contribution to this forum!
