laugh.gif We need to get the conservative people in Congress to push through a border security bill before the end of the session. The latest news indicates that Republicans plan to put immigration on the back burner. I think their unsure of getting something through the Senate. I contacted my three representatives in Congress and told them to show some courage and push border security through, and tell the President it needs to be signed now. If we lose control of Congress it will be because conservatives in Congress didn't act on an issue that has incredibly broad support among Americans. Close that border today! us.gif The remaining immigration issues can wait.

1) Do you think the immigration issue, specically border security, is the defining issue of this election? Is so, why?

2) If not, what issue do you believe is? Why?

I would like to think it's a crucial issue but sadly most Repubs in Washington don't have the political courage to take this issue to the forefront.

If you notice this issue comes up every 10 years. There is a big fuss about it then it dies down again only to resurface in another 10 years. Sad.

Immigration should be one of the important issues, but the party is divided on the issue.

Bush's stance is closer to the Democratic stance than it is to hardline conservatives who want strict border controls and a curb on illegal immigration. Bush has not led on this issue and it is a shame.

Were I a Congressman on a border state, I'd push this issue. I still think the war on terror is the defining issue of this election, but border security could be (and should be) framed in that context.

Unfortunately, the Republican party is virtually non-existent in Cleveland as far as national politics go. We haven't had a Republican Congressman on the west side of this city since World War Two or before.

J. William Stanton (a Republican) served during the 60s and 70s in the 11 district on the East side of Cleveland and its suburbs.

It's too bad, really, but I doubt Dennis Kucinich (Ohio 10th district) will be sympathetic to my views at all.

I believe immigration will be a major issue but even bigger will be Taxes and healthcare.

The Dems have pledged to raise taxes and I have seen no indication either party will seriously address the AMT.

The precise issues will be determined by the choices of the Parties. If more left Obama is the nominee then it will be different than if it is Hillary.
