I think this is the kind of action we all hope for from China and Russia. Obviously they have clout with rogue nations such as N Korea and its wacko leader. A test would certainly help Bush make his point on global security.

DEBATE:

Do you believe that China and Russian are the right parties to change the path of North Korea?

What's your rationale?

North Korea's economy is heavily dependent on trade with its neighboring countries. If Kim Jung Il seriously angered his neighbors, he may actually have to face the very hardships that he helped bring upon his people. How a madman was able to build large personal mansions in an extremely poor nation is sickening to think about. Kim Jung Il needs to be reminded about where his family's power came from in the first place. He certainly has to listen to Russia and China. Otherwise, he may have no food for his Army and no electricity or heating fuel for his mansions.

Can you say Saddam Hussein? wink.gif This is quite typical throughout history. The king lives in gold while the peasants die of starvation at the gates of his castle.

What action, exactly? I see nothing new here that hasn't been stated before, which was followed by little or no action.

Do you believe that China and Russian are the right parties to change the path of North Korea?

The DPRK's largest financial supporters are the parties who have the greatest influence in DPRK foreign policy. Mainly China. What they will do remains to be seen, and I haven't heard anything to indicate that they will hold the DPRK to any consequences. They have been the ones standing in the way of sanctions all of these years, afterall.

But Saddam Hussein's Iraq had oil and the people there were somewhat better off before the US invasion of their land. I'm not surprised by Kim Jung Il's wickedness. But I am surprised at how he was able to build his playground and his Army. For starters, North Korea has no oil and very limited natural resources. Industry over there is literally 50 years behind the Industrialized countries, which means his country should not have possibly been able to manufacture modern tanks or missiles. Kim Jung Il is obviously getting some help from outside. If he goes ahead with his nuclear test, I pray that China and Russia pull out the plug and see how long that madman lasts when his army goes hungry.

There is all kinds of bad stuff going on in the world currently being of course inflicted by bad people, none of this gets much air time or a thread for that matter. Personally I still cannot figure out why for the life of me we through away all the international goodwill the U.S got from 9-11 just to start a war in Iraq for what seems now something that the people there don’t even want, at least not how we would like for them.

The only good reason I can think of is simply because the U.S did not want a rat race to take place in some international based combat of terrorism, but that excuse does not even come close overall, I really cannot understand why we went into Iraq, I hear peoples reasons but those seem to be much more of a personal philosophy really then anything that has to do with reality.

As far as north Korea goes, simply put it may be nothing more then a reaction to maybe fear of an aggressive administration of a super power, that’s my personal opinion. They cannot get a nuke to the shores of the u.s, at least at no where the rate other nations that have them could, they could however end themselves by deploying them offensively, so really I think its nothing more then posturing to prevent in hope any attack from us or related.

The thing to me is I do not understand how north Korea and radical Islam could ever get along, I don’t think they can, but I guess Iran and north Korea do have something in common, the fact that the u.s and them do not get along. North Korea and Iran also would lose to us in a traditional ground war, but with nukes we may not be so hasty to deploy force against them overall, so like how nukes basically ended major world war, its an elevation on the food chain as much as its a shield to exist in all reality. Who knows what the security council thumbsup.gif will look like in few years. Israel is probably scared of Iran, with good reason, but I bet that many Muslims in general probably live in fear of nuclear armed Israel also, for what its worth I think that the mutual destruction policy nukes pose could only fail in the hands of the most disillusioned and irrational, which is why I would fear one ever coming in the hands of a group like the Taliban then any particular nation as a whole.

As for china, well I don’t really see them as a threat really, being it would be nuke war and that you also can invest in that nation with cash money, not the iron curtain, so maybe we should not be so negative all the time, I mean I really doubt north Korea would be doing any of this if they did not care to survive really.
