A worried Dane

Every day now I see my fellow danes being hung out in the press as being racist, and some are even convicted in court, because of what I what I would refer to as an antisympathy towards a religion, rather than racism.
I have a brother in law, who is from Marocco, he is islamic, but I like him a lot nontheless. I have friends with whom I play music, also islamic, great guys whom I tresure a lot. I have travelled all over the world, never have I disliked a people, a country or a race.
But if I stand up here (red. Denmark), and openly express the things which I dislike about islam, I´ll instantly be called a racist.
Why is it, that in europe there has been made a connection between racial and religious issues (at least when it comes to islam). I mean, there´re people from all races who converts to islam?

There are intolerance elements in both. I can't speak about what's happening in Europe, but I will say that I prefer both racial and religious tolerance in this country.
I have no problem with any group, worshiping as they wish. The rub comes in when members of a particular religion sort of push the public envelope. We've had many discussions on the board about various aspects proper relationships between religion and public affair or public policy.
Personally, I think religion belongs in the home, church, mosque or whatever and not in the public square. Also, religious fanatics should not get offended when someone rejects their advances, even if the rejection is done in a harsh olr rude manner. A person(s trying to convince someone else that they are the sole guardian of "truth" have put themselves in this awkward position.
