I have the unique perspective here of living in the Vegas area, so the only large paper in Vegas finally covered the story about a Rep Gibbons who is now running for Governor a bit of play a week after the event. To summarize Gibbons was eating/drinking at local restaurant and two other females sent drinks over to Gibbons table so his party invited them over to socialize and drink. Sound good yet? The female in Question is 5’4” 114 lbs… and half his age. Well to cut out the details which are available on the police report and some interviews. Gibbons “ran into her out side the restaurant and walked her to her car which was not at the restaurant. Next we have her calling the police on 911 three times asking for help from Gibbons. This was a week ago Friday.

Now we have two events that are in respect very similar in theory, two republicans that the media is aware of that the media did nothing with the story. Foley the media reported it to Hastert is what I have heard. And here the media owned by a conservative in Vegas did not run the story front page till Friday one week later and no national media has picked it up to this date. Whereas when a reporter without putting the complete details in his colum went after Harry Reid recently that went national right away. This same reporter has gone after Harry for other stupid things like the boxing tickets when Harry Reid was a boxer. I would not have a problem with Hastert getting front row seats to wrestling tournaments for his coaching record in wrestling. The question is does the media treat these events the same. I believe these events are not close to the same, that assault of a female is very serious and a 911 call was made. She has said she now does not want to pursue the matter, but what kids that Foley went after want that to be pursued. Is the media give republican Gibbons a break?

This story has everything, a hot 114 lb Cocktail waitress from Wynns casino, a representative running for Governor, crime and all yet the media is not digging into it. This would sell papers and TV for months… If you google gibbons assault you get very few hits and this was 10 days ago.

If the media was liberal do you believe spectacular salacious ones like this would be featured all across the USA as soon as they are known by anyone in the media? Is this a good case of liberal media not acting liberal, somehow responsible? Or is it a case to support the media is not liberal. Can you site comparable examples on either party?

Remember the right had rep Hart followed and went hog wild for months on that one. None of the cited are proactive costly stings.

I have written questions on this subject on The RJ blog. (only paper in vegas Review Journal) For instance Gibbons has finally given a public statement, he said he caught her falling. If he caught her falling why does she have as written on the police report scratches on her neck and back. Gibbons said he was outside and she came out right away and that is how he met up with her. Her statement and her friends is it was 15-20 minutes and another witness stating that. Why was he standing out there and stating she came out right away? Next he says he was just walking her to her car. If so he needs to resign, why would a responsible citizen help a drunk to drive, even the police report shows after the event the police thought she was drunk. Is his stated behavior what we want as public servants who actually say they are strong against drunk drivers? Next in his police interview the next day he says his knee bumped into her several times. I ask why would he be making a statement like that out of the blue when the attack is alleged at the garage. She in her police statement which he would not have had access to said he was playing footsie with her and he also with his hand grabbed her leg under the table. This seems to be backed up with his strange statement that his knee hit her several times. Again why would you include this in your statement.


I did not hear about this one till recently.... the media did not play it up...
The below has everything the media could run with for months. Including a hot Paris Hilton look alike, a republican government married official, so hypocrisy. Gee that liberal media once again, I can tell the liberal media just does not stoop to this level do they. Or is it a right wing owned media..

this was settled out of court and sealed. You do not settle a adultery case only, if you are innocent in my book.

This one is getting better.... no one could have wrote a better one, now we have some photos of her... where is that liberal media when you want one, this is election time, we have a hot chick, we have threats of murder of the victim, we have a US representative who is running for governor. We have a sheriff that seems to be covering and breaking laws with witness tampering....

I have enclosed a link by the righty owned local paper attacking the assault victim. They did an attack job on her and gave a free pass on rep Gibbons. Then listen to her in a press conference with her new lawyer. She says she will take a lie detector test.

Now here is where it gets interesting as I had suspected someone got to her. Well she has been offered bribes and now has had her and her child's life threatened directly if she does not keep her mouth shut.

More, it is illegal for the police to release the name of a sexual assault victim. The police did. Gets better, the normal is to pull the alleged into the station right away, the police did not. It is also normal to ask the alleged to take a lie detector test right away, they did not. It is also never that the sheriff calls the alleged before he gives his interview and tells him that the status of his own investigation like telling him no video cameras were working, the sheriff did. It is also not normal for the sheriff who was not conducting the investigation to give a press conference and attack the credibility of the victim, he did.

Where is that liberal media.................. anyone seen this in any other market than Vegas? this is almost two weeks later.........

The liberal media has been obsessing on Osam.. uh, Barack Obama and Rush Limbaugh. You can't expect that pack of "me-toos" to actually be able to handle more than 1 or 2 issues at a time, do you?

Before that it was Mark Foley 24/7. Then Iraq. The LIBERAL media is, after all, "liberal". They aren't interested in doing any deep, thoughtful, and objective presentations of the "news". They are only interested in fast paced, emotionally powerful, shallow, and "entertaining" "news" that promotes their agenda.

They combine lack of intellectual rigour, perspective, and historical knowledge with a zealotry usually attributed to the "evangelical right".

The press is liberal all right. But their failings don't deny that liberalism. They confirm it.

This happened two weeks ago. at that time the national media and local had plenty of time to devote to Reid which was a minor subject at best. The local media owned by the ultra rich kid who inherited his money has had plenty of time to investigate the details. They have not yet they are running front page stories to defend the republican and actually attack the victim. They as a paper know that in cases of sexual assault it is illegal for the police to release the name of the victims. Not only did they not go after the police for this infraction, but they publicised her name and went after her personally. They have time to go after her but not find out the details.

We have a sheriff giving the accused attacker updates on what the police have found to date, including telling him that all the cameras at the garage in question were not filming. This is before his first interview. This is unheard of.

We have the fact that the accused is always interviewed right away once their identity is known, she told the police who and where he was staying a block away. This was not done, it was only done once the sheriff gave him a status update. And the norm is the accused after their initial statement is asked to right then take a lie detector test. The police did not do this.

We have statements of attempted bribes of the victim by the Gibbons campaign, we have threats to the victim her life and that of her baby and family. We have a female who is not political, she is not even registered to vote, she does not even know him. We know there are conflicts with Gibbons statements with the facts. and again we have a hot 114 lb top cocktail waitress, you do not work at Wynn because you are not the top of the field.

Again she has said she will take a lie detector test.

where is that liberal media when you need one... this one is the icing on the cake that could be the nail in the coffin, if that liberal media would do something liberal.
