Aww shucks.
Thanks for the birthday greetings everyone. They are much appreciated!
I had a pretty uneventful day. I went and paid my annual state extortion (licence plate renewal, called "tag renewal" down here)... $130. Boo (and not in a scary way, but in a boo-hiss kind of way)! I did it through the drive through this year, so it only took 5 minutes. It's kind of like taking all of the money that you receive as a birthday gift and turning it over to the state. Call it a birthday tax. What a wonderful experience.
When I picked Jaime up from work, she had a nice surprise for me. She had conspired with a coworker to get me a
box of JellyBelly candies. Fifty flavors, all separated so you can sample each one individually. Mmmmm. I'm going to have to try really hard to not eat the whole 1.5lb box before the night is over. Anyone like buttered popcorn?
We decided to have king crab for dinner tonight since it was on sale for a mere $6.99/lb, which is about half-off the usual price. Jaime worked long and hard picking all the meat from two pounds of crab while I fielded phone call upon phone call from my massively-massive-and-growing-every-day family (I became an uncle for the 8th time this past Tuesday). We steamed the crab and served it with clarified butter, steamed broccoli, and garlic bread. For dessert, we made cherry pocket pies with dough made from scratch. I'm about to wash one down with a big glass of chocolate milk.
All in all, a pretty uneventful birthday, but I like them that way.
Thanks again!
Mike
