Every news channel in the Chicago area covered this wedding.
I don't know, maybe just me but I could care less.
It seemed to me to that it was more popular than when Princess Di and Charles were married.
This was an actor and actress getting married, the third time for Tom.
I think there are more important news to report than some rich people's darn wedding.
Just wanted to vent.
Thanks!

I tend to agree. The problem is that celebrity news draws an audience, which sells commerical time. Any commerical news medium would be foolish to ignore this story.

I suppose some people need a little glamour in their lives, and this kind of news provides that.

It's the fairy tale thing, a little romantic escapism. Add to that the fact that Cruise seems a little unreal in his thinking at times (e.g., what he thinks about psychiatry and psychiatrists).

While I agree with you, Momof3, that it's a real fluff piece in a world where serious stories get very short shrift and negligible followup at times, I would much rather devote time to that story than to the FOX interview of one O.J. Simpson and "if" he had murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

There's fluff, and then there's some really sick stuff on the tube these days... sour.gif mad.gif

Agreed, Mom. But, this is only the beginning....So much to look forward to.

I predict that TomKat will take a vacation! Next, she will be caught at a bad moment in a picture and psychologists will analyse why she was pouting at that party! "Is Tom ignoring Katie?" Horrors! His side/her side. Then, divorce time (again) preceded by a slew of other stories about his strangeness/infidelity/insensitivity and her inability to take it any more. She will go into the arms of another man (or woman).

By that time, Brangelina will be over and maybe Tom will run to the arms of Angelina (or Brad).

And I can predict all of this (and it will all pass just as surely as Jen and Brad) by looking at magazine covers at the checkout line. sleeping.gif

By the way, can we get away from the "cute" blending of celebrity names? sour.gif

I know. sour.gif

Forgot something else. Kate is now great friends with Victoria Beckham, so there will be the inevitable eating disorder brought on by extraordinary wealth, beauty and fame. Have to invent some problem for yourself if life is perfect....probably some plastic surgery, too, though it likely violates Tom's religion. Of course, this information too will dot the magazine isle covers...Katie's chest before and after, Katie's bones/stomach (is that another baby bump?)/ Katie going to counseling or rehab. Fun! sour.gif

I do have to wonder who funds this industry by buying this stuff, and why?

Luckily, Katie doesn't need plastic surgery. wub.gif Unless the baby has ruined her figure. hmmm.gif

Okay, but we need a grandfather clause exception for Filliam H. Muffman.

Oh, ick, please. Those two make me nauseous. sour.gif At first I felt sorry for Katie getting railroaded by the Cult of Scientology aka Tom Cruise, but now I just feel pity. If she is so weak-willed she went through this sham of a marriage, she deserves what she gets. There's something totally creepy about that couple (and I think it's name is "Tom").

Anyone notice that baby looks decidedly Asian? Like maybe they adopted rather than ...oh, no, I don't want that image in my head!!!! (runs away screaming)

Seems like I have similar sentiments to the others here.

Celebrity weddings. sour.gif

Seriously. Any other group have marriages fail at such an alarming rate?

That said, I could care less what Tom's religious beliefs are, aliens or not. Makes no difference to me what someone else's beliefs are. If scientology works for him....then what's the problem?

Well, perhaps this will get these two "lovebirds" out of the news for a while - now and forever. wacko.gif

One of the more bizarre aspects of a Scientology wedding is the groom's vow to his bride to give her "a pan, a comb, and perhaps a cat" (Source) blink.gif

Whatever ol' L. Ron was smoking, musta been some goooooood sh....tuff. smoke.gif sleeping.gif
