I found this website interesting:

How many people have your name?

QUOTE
There are 362,962 people in the U.S. with the first name Aaron.

Statistically the 156th most popular first name. (tied with 3 other first names)

99.17 percent of people with the first name Aaron are male.

Nobody should feel forced into sharing personal information, but I'd like to point out that this site says that i am the only person in the United States with my name!!

I'm not sure how accurate this is, however, or where it gets its data.

My daughter's name isn't in there and my son has the same name as me (so, there's at least 2 of us...)

Anyway, how many people have YOUR name?

The data comes from the 1990 census and is approximate only: Site FAQ
Google
Mrs. Pigpen
There are 26 people in the US with my current name, but no one with my maiden name in the United States.

QUOTE
There are 0 people in the U.S. with the last name Aebersold.

That's obviously not true, my maiden name is Aebersold. This isn't accurate, sorry Aaron. smile.gif

Anyway, how many people have YOUR name?

That was interesting!

QUOTE
There are 217,477 people in the U.S. with the first name Suzanne.

There are 420 people in the U.S. with my whole name.

(and one of them works for the same company I do)

My mother's maiden name is rarer. Only 570 people in the US have that last name (and they're probably all related to us! laugh.gif )

Reading the FAQ, it's more a statistical approach rather than a database approach. If a name (first or last) did not show up enough times, then it isn't included. The FAQ says that 19% of names are excluded. sad.gif

Wow. A non-controversial thead on America's Debate.

It'll never last... rolleyes.gif

But while it does there are a total of eight lucky mofos with the same name as mine.

However, I'm the only one whose name shows up when I Google it. I guess that would make me the Number One Top Dog El Supremo Most High Royal Majesty Head Cheese. king.gif

Either that or I've got a really dumb name. sad.gif
Mrs. Pigpen
I have the 29th most popular last name.

After reading Nighttimer's post, I thought I'd do a google search and here is the number one find: Luscious Liz Hernandez w00t.gif Sorry folks, this is not me...nor does she look anything like me (unfortunately). tongue.gif

Christopher
There are 1,556,837 people in the U.S. with the first name Christopher.
Statistically the 13th most popular first name.

I can't post what I wanted to in the public forum in reply to this. devil.gif

BUT:

QUOTE
There are 80,992 people in the U.S. with the first name Julian.
Statistically the 595th most popular first name. (tied with 4 other first names)
96.3 percent of people with the first name Julian are male.

The last statistic was interesting (!) - it's a male name!! I'm frankly amazed that 3.7% of the people called Julian are something other than male. What next? A girl called Brian, or David? Or a man called Susan (oh, Johnny Cash beat me to it).

QUOTE
There are 3,017,684 people in the U.S. with the last name Smith.
Statistically the 1st most popular last name.

What do I win? biggrin.gif

QUOTE
There are 815 people in the U.S. named Julian Smith.

Now that I am surprised by. I'd have thought it was a more common name than that.

(To protect my valuable anonymity, I'm not going to tell you my middle name. whistling.gif )
moif
There are 104,989 people in the U.S. with the first name Jan, (I guess some of these are probably female).

There are 40,744 people in Denmark witht he first name Jan.

There are 77,992 people in the U.S. with the last name Christensen. (The results of unchecked Danish immigration)

There are 131,171 people in Denmark with the last name Christensen.

There are 27 people in the U.S. named Jan Christensen.

And 1,195 in Denmark.

according to the site I don't exist, at all. Both my first and last name have 0 results. I have never met anyone in the US with my name, although if you google my name a dominatrix in Portland has all the top rankings.
English Horn
Neither my first nor my last name exist. Which is not surprising given their origin. However, according to Google, apparently there's a prominent Argentinian journalist who has the same last name as me.

Scouting names I found this little gem: according to this website, my Pimp name is

Professor Truth L. Jazz
Looms
Well, there are 0 people with my exact name (not true, but it is true that nobody with my last name is not related to me).
But I found this surprising:

QUOTE
* There are 8,999 people in the U.S. with the first name Boris.
* Statistically the 1951st most popular first name. (tied with 187 other first names)

That many? Really?
And as funny as the idea of a female named Julian is, I found this to be absolutely hilarious:
QUOTE
* More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Boris are male.

I CERTAINLY HOPE SO!!! When I try to imagine what a woman named Boris would look like, I go into a state that can only be described as cardiac arrest.
Hobbes
There are 1,412,852 people in the U.S. with the first name Mark.
Statistically the 18th most popular first name.
99.58 percent of people with the first name Mark are male.

OK so far...makes me wonder a little bit about that .42% though....

There are 0 people in the U.S. with my last name. Soooo, I've got some questions for my parents! hmmm.gif

I do have a fairly uncommon last name, as far as I know it's just my great-grandparents family over here that has it (they changed the name when they immigrated).

I happen to share my first name with millions of male middle easterners.

There are 63 people in the U.S. named [my name].

That's for my proper first name and married name. My sister-in-law had the same name I now have before she married, and every now and then her high school graduating class messes up and sends the reunion information to me. shifty.gif

Using my nickname, there are 17 people with the same name in the U.S.

My maiden name is a very common one. Here's what the site had to say about it:
QUOTE
There are 806,916 people in the U.S. with the last name __________.

There are 720 people in the U.S. with the last name Milosevic.
Statistically the 36423rd most popular last name. (tied with 2316 other last names)

God that irritates me. I am NOT Serbian nor have no relation to the bung hole. Its MILL - O - SICH. Not Milosevic, not Milosock nor does it even resemble Misopich.

I always laugh at these sorts of questions.

The Turners however are apparently about 455,952 deep which, after the head count at the last reunion, seems about right.

Artemise
Its not acurate. They say zero people in the US have my last name and I know that is not true from doing past searches for relatives. There's a lot of people with my last name so I dont get why they come up with none, tried twice to be sure.
Jobius
I have the 10th most popular first name, and the 10th most popular last name. There are 6,572 people in the U.S. named Joseph Thomas.

So far, I take the prize for the commonest name on AD. smile.gif

One Joe Thomas appeared in a famous photograph called A Great Day in Harlem:
QUOTE
Joe played sax and also sang with the Lunceford Band in the 30s and 40s.

Another one goes simply by Joe, and is an R&B singer:
QUOTE
Joe Thomas was born the son of two preachers.

Not me. I'm only the son of one preacher (though my mom used to be a nun).

Here's one who plays offensive tackle for the Wisconsin Badgers:
QUOTE
Player Profile

Thomas stands at 6'8" and weighs 313 lbs.

Not me! Another Joe Thomas was the oldest living man from February until December 1986. Yet another Joseph Thomas is known in Australia as "Jihad Jack".

I'm starting to feel like a mediocrity, even among those who share my name. Fortunately... There are 0 people in the U.S. with the first name Jobius.
Seamus
how many people have YOUR name?
QUOTE
There are 0 people in the U.S. with the first name Seamus.

Same for my last name. The explanation FAQ was priceless...
QUOTE
"I think it's important not to take it as a rejection of you personally." Gabriel Caine -- Diggstown

Nothing personal, we just don't recognize that you exist!! Nor yer family!! Nor any other Seamus, either!! Can't say I'm surprised, though. Every teacher called out my name like "Sea-Moose" on the first day of class. Not easy to live down, that. Can't say the real pronunciation is much better: "Shame-Us". Maybe my folks were prescient. The "live up to your name" line wasn't used much on me. shifty.gif innocent.gif

QUOTE

Statistically the 1943rd most popular last name. (tied with 338 other last names)

It's a very common Hispanic last name.

QUOTE
There are 238 people in the U.S. named Michael Peralta.

If the statistics are correct, ONE of them should be female. flowers.gif

As far as I can tell, the most famous "Michael Peralta" is a surfing photographer.
