When I was married we would go to my ex's mothers house and his sister would make Rumaki.
There were no chicken livers in it. Ick Liver!
However I don't recall what made up the sauce.
I have gone on line and have a few recipe books. One said Grape Jelly. One said Chili Sauce.
I don't recall that being the sauce.
Can anyone help? I want to make this for Christmas Eve.

What little research I was able to do states that you could use water chestnuts for the filling, with or without liver. The most common sauce seems to be a mixture of soy sauce and ginger and/or brown sugar. I suppose you could spice it up anyway you like.
