For about the third time in 20 years, I will not be playing a show and instead, will hang with my family and some friends to get seriously inebriated.
I never get hammered when playing and start drinking water by the end of our third set (out of 4) to make sure I'm ok to drive home (and I've been stopped countless times, made to walk and blow, let off with a warning everytime). So, it will be nice to test my outer limits since I don't have to go anywhere (we are spending the night at our freind's house) or play anything.
The downside is, New Year's Eve is typically our big money night - 4-6 times our usual amount. But I started with a new band around September and New Year's was too close to get a decent booking. Upside? No setup, teardown, sound checks, broken strings, ear plugs....errr....maybe I should stay home more often...
