The family and I are visiting my sister in law and her family. We'll probably play cards after putting the kids to bed and talk. Should be fun.

For about the third time in 20 years, I will not be playing a show and instead, will hang with my family and some friends to get seriously inebriated.

I never get hammered when playing and start drinking water by the end of our third set (out of 4) to make sure I'm ok to drive home (and I've been stopped countless times, made to walk and blow, let off with a warning everytime). So, it will be nice to test my outer limits since I don't have to go anywhere (we are spending the night at our freind's house) or play anything.

The downside is, New Year's Eve is typically our big money night - 4-6 times our usual amount. But I started with a new band around September and New Year's was too close to get a decent booking. Upside? No setup, teardown, sound checks, broken strings, ear plugs....errr....maybe I should stay home more often... thumbsup.gif

Right now, I'm stuck at O'Hare Airport with my oldest daughter after a cancelled flight to Cleveland. they have me booked on another tonite, so I'm crossing my fingers that we'll make it back to my inlaws before the ball drops. sad.gif

What you doin'?

Er... watching the Twilight Zone marathon on the Sci-Fi channel while browsing America's Debate? I don't always tend to give my inner geek free reign on New Year's Eve, but I generally tend to steer clear of traffic (and the general public) until well into January 1st. For those of you who are out and about, rely on your designated driver and, if it's you, drive defensively.

I hope everyone has a healthy, prosperous new year. "Peaceful" is probably too much to hope for...

I am at work, but I managed to hang out with some folks at a virtual New Year's Eve party at a forum where I hang out. I made myself an avatar showing the scene in Funny Face where Audrey Hepburn runs down the stairs in front of Winged Victory in a lovely red dress. I danced the tango and the flamenco (which I can't do in real life.) It was nice.

I'm pulling a second 12-hr shift and right now I'm plowing through a ton of reports and John Mellencamp's Words and Music.

Just as well. I hate champagne and don't celebrate New Year's Eve anyway (for reasons mentioned previously).

Spent the eve with a crowd of Harley riders, will be riding 600+ miles on 1/1/07 if, God willing, I-40 is clear betwixt here and there...
