Not exactly the biggest Buckeye fan but having lived in Tennessee just cannot root for Florida at all.
That being said, I get the feeling that all across America people from OHIO have called in sick today.
I just finished decorating my neighbors workspace with Blue and Orange and have covered his desk with the Gators logo. just for fun all of his computer prompts have had the .wav changed to the Gators fight song.

Would YOU have gone for it on 4th and 1 from your own 30 with a chance to still win catch up or punted?

Has Ohio just been smoozed so much lately they beleived their hype?

Are Chicago fans ready to see defeat at the hands of the Seahawks?

Welcome to the NFL farm system otherwise known as The SEC.

The 4th and 1 had to be one of the worse calls I’ve seen at any level, they were still in the game and if they continued to run the ball instead of panicking they might have kept it close. So much for Tressel being one of the best coaches in college but as long as he beats Michigan he’ll have a job.

One of the excuses for the Buckeye’s poor performance being offered last night and today was the 51 day lay off. Sure they might have been a little rusty but when you’re the, cough, cough, number one team in the country you should be able to shake any rust off within minutes (and they didn’t look rusty on the opening kick off).

I think their shoddy performance was due to a comment over heard this morning on a local show: it wasn’t the 51 day lay off, it was being told for 51 days that you’re the best thing in the country. Meyer offered up this quote regarding the Gators lack of respect:

QUOTE( Urban Meyer)
“I’d like to thank all those people. Our pregame speech was easy.”

And boy did they play like a team on a mission. I don’t think OS had seen a defense that quick all year and Florida’s “anything goes offense” kept the Buckeye’s defense on their heels all night.

Without question, from top to bottom the SEC is the best football conference in the country (bring it on you Texas/Tech/A&M fans!!!). The problem with the Big Ten is they can’t count, how can you call yourself The Big Ten with eleven teams? I guess Sports Management majors don’t have to take math.

If I had to pick, I’d say Chicago in a squeaker. The Raiders will win it all….. oh wait, I’m thinking next year after they draft the Buick in football pads called JaMarcus Russell.

I see you sneaked (snuck?) that in there, thinking that Northwestern fans couldn't be possibly interested in college football enough to click the topic, eh? ...Apparently a 30 - 6 drubbing wasn't enough, and the Seahawks have to come back for more? City of big shoulders beats city of grande latte.

Bears will win 100 to 3, and the game will be called at halftime.

I loved it because it was another example of the sports media being DEAD WRONG. Like the Florida coach said last night. There was a huge lack of respect for them and they showed the nation in a big way.

Well, I'm a Florida alumnus, so you can imagine how I feel about this. biggrin.gif

Does anyone here read the Daily Howler? Bob Somerby sorta predicted Ohio's loss on Monday:

1/8/2007: Sadly, Florida could win tonight. If they do, we’ll explain why we said so.

1/9/2007: How did we know about Florida? The roots of our wisdom are found here. Meanwhile, a bit of a lesson: Learn to distrust your society’s “experts.” Many “experts” swore up and down that the title game should be Ohio State-Michigan. But uh-oh! Southern Cal beat Michigan like a drum. Last night, it was OSU’s turn.

I would have punted, but Ohio State never had a chance to win. It is a meaningless play if you ask me.

Has Ohio just been smoozed so much lately they beleived their hype?

It just seems like Big Ten teams (and Notre Dame) cannot play with speedy teams with supreme athletes. Florida was a much better team. Speed kills and in this case Ohio State looked like a Division III team when matched up against the speed of the Gators. Florida was moving and executing at such a quick pace they could not execute their screen plays because they were moving so much faster and the OSU D-line did not have time to penetrate. After watching Michigan and Notre Dame get slaughtered I had a fear about this game.

No way. You better hope this is one of Rex's bad games if you want Seattle to even have a chance.

I declare Boise State the Undefeated National Champions. Michigan lost. OSU lost. Even Florida lost one. Boise State would have easily conquered Florida, no contest. tongue.gif

Go for it on 4th and 1 deep in your own territory only (1) in the final minutes of the game and you lose if you don't; or (2) when you have consistently gained yardage on most plays, your opponent is rountinely 3 and out, and you're comfortable with the potential consequences of failure. Go for it most days, but maybe not in that game.

Team of Heisman Trophy winner always loses the big one. It was fate. Tee-hee. unsure.gif

I steadfastly deny that football logic and reasoning exist. I engage in it as one of my few escapes from being perfectly right all the time. innocent.gif The only true statement about football is the Any Given Sunday principle. Everything else is just pure, unadulterated nonsense. Gotta love it. wub.gif

Which should fully explain my unhealthy facination with the Romo. The only player good enough to have even the remotest chance at overcoming all of Romo's spectacular weaknesses is Tony Romo. Isn't he the first quarterback with a losing record since Marino to make the Pro Bowl? thumbsup.gif

But, this is the offseason, so I've been downgraded from a Romosexual wub.gif to a Romosapien hmmm.gif . Until the Pro Bowl game, when the NFC will destroy the AFC 7 billion to 3 billion. The AFC's 3 billion will be Romo fumbles, interceptions, safeties, mishandled snaps, etc. The NFC's 7 billion will be all Romo. sour.gif mrsparkle.gif
