In the winter of 2000-2001 much of the nation was hit by high energy prices that were caused by manipulations of the countries energy markets by companies like ENRON. California appealed to the FERC at the time and got a deaf ear. Recently CA had even been ordered to pay an additional couple of billions of dollars in energy bills when it got a FERC hearing about getting refunds from this market manipulation.

Now the state has gathered a wealth of detailed evidence that proves a number of corporations engaged in this wrongdoing that crippled California's economy and subjected the residents to higher bills and rolling blackouts. In the aftermath of the crisis CA has been hit hard with a deficit of something like $30 billion.

Why can't we publicize the wrongdoings of these corporations and get this information out into the light of day so the public can be informed of the cause of their rise in energy prices all over the nation?

Take out information that reveals these companies legitimate business secrets and expose the energy evil-doers to the light of day.

I saw this on 60 minutes something like two years ago, and even then it was implied that the big companies were blatently and illegally manipulating the market.
BBC Radio 4 also did a documentry on it last year, and now I'm reading this post.

Why is this still dragging on when its obvious whats been happening? ermm.gif Who protects the Californians rights in this regard?

Supposedly it is the FERC but the state of California didn't vote for Bush but the Energy Trading companies gave his campaign a lot of money.
