On a personal and non-political note...and as a writer, promise to only use proper grammatical English. There’s just something, in my mind at least, that keeps me up at night when I see improper capitalization (or lack thereof), slang, or improper use of commas. I admit I may be a little obsessed with it; I have been known to hit the spell check button when sending instant messages.

The New Oxford American Dictionary, 2005.
Oxford's preferred spelling is "e-mail," but "email" is acceptable. For plural usage Oxford uses the example, "I got three e-mails today."
