Vlad Tepes
Hi everyone

I'm just an average joe trying to make sense of it all. I was a business owner sold out about 7 years ago. Now days I restore a car here and there. Host an online game for friends. Write novels for fun. All my children are grown and gone out into the world making their own lives. So I spend more time on the computer than I should. Many years ago I was involved deeply in politics. Saw the inside workings and I washed my hands of it. Some of my old friends and associates are still in politics both in the public eye and out.

I surf blogs and look around at many forums try and catch talk radio when I'm driving. And I have to tell you I'm more worried about the state this country is in now than any other period of time in its history. We seem to be more divided now than we were during the war between the states. Now as for me I've never voted for a party I always vote for the person. Being of the mind set that being extreme right or left is not a good thing. And parties seem to drift this way and that. But both sides have got to start looking for common ground. And thats why I'm here. To see if there is any common ground between us. I may not post alot. But I read, listen and watch. Looking forwar to reading you're posts. Take care

Hey, Vlad. It's always encouraging to see moderate Republicans around the place (or moderate anything, for that matter laugh.gif ) - and people looking for common ground. I think many of us find more common ground here than we might have expected (as well as some pretty harsh divisions) in an environment that allows for more thoughtful, better researched, and often more convincing arguments. I don't know if the site makes sense of it all, but it can certainly give the average (and the extraordinary) joe plenty of fodder to try.

I encourage you to get involved in the discussions: not only is it a good way to challenge one's own "sense-making", it's also good for the rest of us to hear as many points of view as possible. In any event, I hope you find America's Debate stimulating. I've found it far more civil and, therefore, more constructive and enlightening than any other political discussion board. I hope you do, too.

By the way, your life so far sounds pretty idyllic. thumbsup.gif
