I'm interested in why you all chose the sigs you have, what you think they say about you, and even what you think other people's sigs say about them.
My signature is from the Sex Pistols song 'God Save the Queen', and I chose it because in two short, sharp lines, i think it encapsulates what i see as the sanctimonious hypocrisy of Western Establishment.

Hey... what happened to my signature? I know I had one...
There it is.
The latin quote means, "life is more than merely being alive."
The second part just highlights both my disdain for the current American Administration.
Lastly the third part is just to offer some insight into the debating process.

my current ones have to do with thinking for yourself. the first one is the "mantra" of Dr. Timothy Leary, high preist of the LSD movment, brilliant man (especially for how much acid he did) and my personal hero.
the second part is a quote from Hermann Goering, a leader of the NAZI party, and is the reason I follow Leary's message: think for yourself, don't let others do it for you, or you will end up in the same situation as the german people in the 30's and 40's. the NAZI regime was allowed to flourish because the germans didn't think for themselves and blindly followed their leaders like sheep.
third is one I found on a website somewhere, it kinda speaks for itself as does the fourth.
the last part, has actually been added to. the quote from the movie is actually you have to KNOW, NOT FEAR, KNOW, that someday, you are going to die" durdan then goes on to say: "it's only after we have lost everything, that we are free to do anything" I read the quote as is at some fight club website.
another I had was "hard work good, hard work fine, but first take care of head" it is from the sublime song "smoke two joints"
and another still was leary's last words "why not" which on his death bed he repeated over many times in many ways, as a ?, as a statement, as an exclaimation, loudly, quietly. and I had a third, but can't remeber it right now, I think it was by marley.

The first one is Mark Twain's sardonic look at history in two clauses. It reflects a spiral notion of time/history that I first encountered through studying William Butler Yates. Recently, I ran across a piece on energy policy that noted we are not dealing with the energy policy du jour but an energy policy deja vu.
The second one is the sarcastic retort (so I hear in my imagination) of a musician I never fully understood, but who can?
What does this say about me? Sometimes I can see something going on and have something to say about it. Other times, I'd rather just play me guitar and not think at all.

You all probably have noticed mine changes frenquently.
I try and make my signatures relevant to forum events or current events (either in my life personally or in the news).

That's why i added Daddy Bush's quote recently
Anyways...I have "God Bless America" because, like my post name, i'm patriotic & i have Psalm 23:4 because it reminds that evil should not be feared

Psalms 23:4 isn't saying that you should not fear evil. It means that there is no evil in death.

I thought it meant that one who is comforted by God knows no fear - even somewhere so poetically heinous as the Valley of the Shadow of Death.
Like Jaime and GA, my sig changes fairly regularly - though it usually features a quote by a favorite political writer, like Shaw or Mencken. The current one just reflects my irritation with buzzword addicts and will probably be changing sooner than most.

I can't say whether mine will change often or not, as I've only been a member for 5 days now. I don't really foresee it changing, though I may come to add one or two more similarly succinct ones. I like 'em short and simple, but with as much impact as possible
Anyway... the Benjamin Franklin quote:
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
is meant to convey my opposition to our living in fear following the 9/11 attacks. Prior to the Bush administration (I was in high school) I never had much interest in politics, or any serious affairs for that matter. Since then I've been apalled at how quickly people will hand over their rights for the illusion of a little more safety.
I don't really have any beliefs, and I like to think I have greatly reduced the number of illusions I hold about the world; and I think it better that I accept whatever happens, learn from it and move on. I don't want to live in fear of things I can't control, and I don't want to sell myself into slavery trying to find some peace of mind. I'd rather embrace my liberty and cope with whatever risks and responsibilities that come with it

I always use this signature (with the last word changed to "science fiction" on a more SF-oriented forum) because it reflects my tendency to live in a dream world. I first heard this phrase at an SF convention many years ago. As far as I know, it's anonymous.

I figured that given the (none too surprising) outbreak of war a change would be appropriate.
My first quote pretty clearly summarizes my feelings on war.
The second is something that I think that the current military Junta in the U.S. should consider.
The third is just a comment on a poster here who shall remain nameless.
