Captain Swing
hello everyone who reads this

i was reccommended to your site by a fellow-poster at another site which is, shall we say, a little more "rough around the edges".

"i come in peace"

altho i myself am more accustomed to the rough-and-tumble world of adhominem and profanity that passes as "debate" elsewhere, i hope to live up to the high standards of AD and to become a (if not valued, at least in terms of "food for thought") "productive" member of the AD community.

it would probably be rather pointless to elaborate on my particular political beliefs here, but in general i would say that i am a marxist, if a more than somewhat unorthodox one.

i have a great interest in history and am (fairly) well-read in "modern" history - yet lacking in any "formal" education, having been a member of the toiling castes. (current book - the serbs: guardians of the gate, R.G.D. Laffan - a bit of ww1 propaganda when the serbs were "good guys" - or at least on the side of the entente

regards,

Swing

Hey, Cap'n, welcome from a fellow left coaster. mrsparkle.gif
Captain Swing

thanx all for your kind greetings

i'm still in the process of learning my way 'round here

tried to respond to a particular thread (about communism), and had laboriously typed out my responses when to my dismay i learned that one can only have sooooo many quote boxes in any given post.

alas, it was too much effort and i was too tired (too late at night as well!) to make the necessary changes and alas, the whole thing is gone down the memory hole now

's a definite learning curve i guess

anyway, thanx for the welcome

Hi Captain Swing,

I am looking forward to reading your posts. There is nothing better than a new perspective. It sounds like you will have a lot of interesting things to say. See you around.

Howdy. "Left Coast". Are you a Kalifornicator?

What is an unorthodoxed Marxist?

CS, break it up into two posts next time. I've certainly run into that problem. I think you are allowed 10 quotes per post so you must have had a pretty involved response. You can also get around the quote limitation by bolding etc.

Anyway, welcome aboard.

That's the nice thing about composing posts, particularly a long one like you seem to be talking about, in a word procerssor. You can hit the save button once in a while and if you get tired and give up, you can come back later and work on it. Nothing lost! Nothing goes down the "memory hole." mrsparkle.gif

from what i gather, the poster "Vladimir" has pretty much covered the ground for the marxist perspective here. but i do hope to be able to bring something to the table.

thanks for the welcome

i am a "kalifornicator" indeed.

and as for your other question - well, i say that because i came to my current position by way of a more anarchistic approach, and in so far as i've eschewed and continue to, membership in any particular working class party, one might call me a "fence sitting" marxist

but i suppose "unorthodox" is less unflattering heh

thanks dingo

i had tried a "point by point" study of a 26 point indictment and was unpleasantly surprised

an yways, i'm still looking about here and've only posted a couple of inconsequential observations on the nature of "Law" and "morality"

actually i thought of that, but as i wasnt using the word processor and as it was late (and i wasnt really completely happy with the post anyway, truth be told) well ....

anyway, thanks to all of you for the greetings and observations

hope to "see" you around

Welcome!

I knowed a Kalifornicator once. She was H.O.T.T. hot. I've always regretted blowing that up. If I had known then what I know now, ..... thumbsup.gif

Boy Howdy, things would be different.

well "it's better to regret something you have done, than something you havent.....and if you see your mom this weekend, tell her "SATAN!""

HEH

sorry

one really hasnt lived if one has no regrets, yes?

on the other hand........we've got five fingers!

well it seems that my period of probation is over and i'm able to start threads

wondering if i ought to revive an old but interesting debate i had elsewhere, concerning the nature of "age of consent" laws

heh....i bet THAT'll get something stirred up 'round here!

(and as for that "kaliforniacator" of yours, there's lots more fish in the sea and lots more "kalifornincators" - every year sees the ripening of a new "crop", - courage and take heart!

regards
