I recently went to see Bay Buchanan speak. She is Pat Buchanan's little sister, and she is also a conservative, but not as far right as Pat. Anyway, she came to speak at OU (a liberals school) about abortion. She spoke for like 45 minutes then she took questions.
A lot of the liberals on campus attended this speech only to insult Ms. Buchanan. Then one person said 168,000 women died in california due to messed up abortions before Roe vs Wade. And how now that its legal women don't die. Well I have a number to counteract that. 41 million. Thats how many children our culture has killed in the last 30 years. 41 million. Not thousand, not hundred, 41 million. I know i was repeating myself, but after hearing that, I thought about my life, and my story. Most of you know i was born into this world the immediately put up for adoption. My birth mother knew she could not take care of me, she knew that. She planned on aborting me, but she later changed her mind and decided to give me up for adoption. I know this sounds crazy, but it could have been 41 million and 1 . According to Mrs. Buchanan (it sounds weird saying that), over 3 million people are on the waiting list to adopt a baby in the US. Did you know that women who have an abortion have a breast cancer rate of 56& according to a study done by a PRO CHOICE doctor. If your mother had breast cancer, and you have an abortion, you have a 99.9% chance of getting it, according to the same doctor. Is it worth the risk? Even more importanly can you imagine how awesome this world would be if those 41 million lives had a chance to bloom? Ill bet you one of those lives lost would be a friend of yours, or a co-worker. I cannot imagine what would make a women choose murder over life as a form of convenience. For any of you who might be pregnant and considering having an abortion, please PLEASE think other wise. If it is because of money talk to any pro-lifer around you. The cost of diapers and formula will never be worth more then the life of the child. I am sure most of them would be more then happy to help in anyway possible.

I'm assuming that you wish to debate whether or not abortion is morally acceptable. Is this correct?

No argument from me. I agree that abortion is not -- barring exceptional circumstances -- morally acceptable, and that in most cases adoption is a much better alternative. But as with many other issues, I don't necessarily believe in making things I disapprove of illegal.
