Defector says Chemical attack is a CertaintyMy favorite quote...
QUOTE
The suspected plot by Saddam to drop chemical weapons on attacking troops emerged following chief UN weapons inspector Hans Blix's 173-page report to the UN Security Council.
The report listed details of missing weapons which Iraq had not accounted for.
They include 50 Scud B warheads and 6,500 bombs laced with chemical weapons, VX nerve agents and anthrax.
How come Blix didn't mention these weapons that they found? Blix has more motives than just as a weapons inspector...

Just to be sure, the following question is what you wanted to debate, right?

I would NOT want to be Blix right now. His report could launch a war.
I don't think he has other motives. He's just scared and wants to make 110% sure before saying anything.

The first question is kind of facetious...a recent defector says that Iraq has chemical weapons AND will use them.
The second is really what I want to point out...why did Hans Blix not point out (verbally) these material breaches? I understand he doesn't want to start a war...but, after all, that is his job, to report on possible breaches. If he is unwilling to do his job, he should be fired. (BTW, it is in his written report, he just did not make a point of mentioning these discovered weapons when he last spoke to the UN).

His job is to investigate and report. If he puts everything he FOUND (and a defector saying XXX is not proof) in his report he is doing exactly what his job mandates.

And if he actually brought up the IMPORTANT points when he spoke, he would be doing a GOOD job.
sheesh.

Why? His job isn't supposed to be political. Nowhere in his mandate are public speeches outlined. His verbal presentations exist only to make it clear how he interpretted his findings.

His job is to coordinate the inspections and REPORT his findings to the UN. The man is an utter failure when he cannot even point out material breaches.
The Al-Samouds (the "original" smoking gun) were illegal and undeclared. When the US pointed this out, Iraq started destroying them. That was AFTER they were discovered. They were not disclosed voluntarily. Oh, and Blix did not bring them up, Colin Powell did.
Blix thinks everything is hunky dorry in Iraq (although he has NEVER stated that Iraq is in compliance).

Actually those missiles were declared & legal but since saddam decided to test them beyond the set UN limit range, he had to destroy them all but the undeclared & illegal stuff was the banned cluster type bombs found a couple days ago
