Chicago has a very big problem with funding of the CTA.
The state of Il. says it cannot come up with the funds to keep the trains and buses running.
100,000 passengers will be affected by this.
Even if lawmakers approve a funding it will be a week before all canceled are running again.
They say 600 will lose their jobs.
But to me this is the kicker.
CTA President Ron Huberman noted it will take 2 to 3 milliom dollars to get laid off drivers back on the road because of recertification and drug testing.
What?
These people are getting laid off, maybe for a very short time and they were tested once for these tests.
What a waste of money. You are in trouble because there is no money and now you are talking about retesting for drugs and recertification Again.
Am I the only one who thinks this is the stupidiest thing you ever heard?
Good ole Illinois.

For Debate:

1) What would you recommend the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) do to resolve this?

2) In the event the employees are laid off is it necessary to redrug test and recertify them?
