I think it would be hard to pick just one. There are things I love best about all the Wailers' work.

Would I pick Exodus? Great vibes, I've always loved "The Heathen" and "Turn your Lights Down Low"

Uprising and Survival have a bunch of my favorites on them. But so does Natty Dread.

Though it is not an album, I love Talking Blues, the music is so raw, and that was during that mid-seventies era when Bob was really wailing, doing that little trill thing with his voice.

I don't know what I'd pick. They all rule the universe very completely.

I've had the pleasure of sharing a spliff with Ziggy at a reggae festival where our band was playing (after John Brown's Body, before Eek a Mouse). It was a moment of greatness, no doubt.

Dude! Blasphemer! Legalize it is a great tune, but it was recorded by Peter Tosh after he left the Wailers.
Peace!
RU, have you been hearing the new versions of these albums being put out now? Awesome stuff. I've got a couple of them, I really like the more raw sounding tracks. How can you beat a bass line like "Concrete Jungle?"

I must admit that I am a Marley ignoramus, having only heard a track here and there on the local college freeform radio. I'm definately a Taj Mahal nut, and from what I've read here, Marley must be something very good--very different from Taj, but with the same spirit.

So I guess I'll break open the piggy bank and go get me some Marley.

Thanks for this thread, BTW! Always on the lookout for new (to me) inspirations.

AM, if you like Taj Mahal, check out Olu Dara too. Good stuff!

From the musician's standpoint, it's hard to find a group with a deeper "pocket" than the Wailers. Check out the bass and drum section in particular.
