I usually don't offer up my opinion until stories have somewhat cleared up the details over a period of a week or two and although the story of Limbaugh's comments is
far from over, I just wanted to post some updates I guess.
Let's take a look at a very basic time line of events.
1. Rush uses the phony soldiers comment.
2. Media Matters jumps all over it.
3. Rush tries to clarify his statement.
4. Media Matters jumps all over the clarification.
5. Harry Reid writes a letter and has 41 other senators sign it and sends it to Rush.
6. Rush puts the letter on ebay and it sells for 2.1 million dollars and the proceeds go to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, a nonprofit that gives scholarship assistance to children of Marines and federal law enforcement personnel whose parents die in the line of duty.
7. Rush matches that 2.1 million for a total of 4.2 million dollars and has asked that Harry Reid and the other 41 senators that can afford it to also match the 2.1 million.
8. Harry Reid, maybe due to extremely poor choice of words seems to be
taking credit (granted, he did write it

) for the largest bid ever on ebay to go to charity. He's also selling copies of the letter, signed by him, for $1,000 on his own website for charity.
If you ask me, this story is merely in its infancy. I know this is only one part of the debate here but it does seem to be a focus, so I thought I'd share some of the latest information. Oh and by the way, I was going to link that story to cnn, msnbc, new york times, etc.... but as luck would have it, and as of 4:15AM PST, none of them had covered it.
