With 24 hours left until Saddam's choice is up, Saddam has formally rejected Bush's ultimatium.
BUT, if Saddam changes his mind & decides to go into exile, where would he go & why go their?

I heard syria would be a real possibility as the two countries have maintained close diplomatic ties. though it really is all moot, saddam has refused to leave.

I agree that it won't happen. But if it did, in addition to Syria (probably the most likely hypothetical) other options might be France or Brazil. Both countries have liberal asylum rules.
[Edit] For the record, I just agreed with unabomber

Bahrain has offered to take Saddam..
King of Bahrain offers Saddam safe exileSaddam's ego will never allow him to go quietly into the night....
Besides, they will nab him for war crimes the minutes he leaves Iraq...

Too bad he wouldn't go to North Korea...so we could kill two birds with one stone...after we're done in the Persian Gulf.

What's that mafia saying about keeping the enemy close?
I think the United States should offer exile!!!
By the way, they reported that he was just two hours from running when Desert Storm ended. I think it's very likely that he'll take off at some point. He loves himself too much.

I think he should go to France,As much aggravation France has given the U.S. lately about the war in the first place, One can only imagine what it would take to get Saddam out of France to face war crimes.
