I am on facebook... i am in college of course. Its amazing how from the time i was a freshman to now how big it has truly become. I would not think to call it an addiction or an obsession because it is so integral to the daily life of a student. It's networking ability is incredible and its a wonderful way to stay in touch with old friends or people on the other side of the world. For those looking for another friend:

I have a my space profile, but I don't use it for much except as a means to keep in contact with a friend or two who use that site. I don't really like the medium and I have yet to set up a face book profile as I don't really feel I need it. I know other people who use these places and like them, but frankly, I prefer to use skype with the people I wish to talk to on a personal level and I use my blog for my musings.

I've had difficulties in the past with people being able to contact me when ever I am online, most disturbingly with young girls asking me inappropriate questions. I used to post a lot on various sci fi fora and this led to such problems. I disabled MSN messenger because such people would try to talk to me and the last thing I need is to be branded a pervert because some 13 year old wanted to 'talk dirty'. So far my withdrawal from fora has kept me safe and obscure but if I see so much as a hint of anything suspicious on My Space I'll close the account double quick.

Since I can't claim my cats as dependants on my tax return, I might just get them pages. That could be their Christmas present.

God it felt good to get that off my chest, admitting you have a problem is the first step to finding a cure.

No in all seriousness I think facebook is great if time consuming, it helps me keep in contact with friends from University who live in different parts of the country and has put me back in touch with people who I'd gone to high school with who I'd lost contact with. It also helps with organising things like parties and reunions.

I used to have a myspace but gave up on it. There didn't seem to be much point to it unless you were in a band and I kept on getting friend requests from people who were trying to sell me something or sign me up to porn sites. Facebook wins hands down for me.

Tom is not my friend.

I don't think anyone likes Tom, or is his friend. But lots of folks use his web page!

Tom was my only friend for about 2 months.

I've had a MySpace page for a number of years, but only ever used it when I was working for Virgin Entertainment. At Virgin, it was the primary networking tool among the staff and I still use it, very sporadically, for keeping in touch with a few colleagues there. I've also had a Facebook page for a while (ever since it went "public"), but it's been pretty dormant.

Yes, me too. I first started using MySpace but have gone off it, mainly for the same reasons as you, but also because I have an (irrational but nonetheless strong) antipathy towards its current proprietor, Mr R Murdoch.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I was addicted to Facebook - the constant "sign up to this really cool new app I've found/made" messages from friends-of-friends can get a little weating - but I do use it a fair bit. It's especially good for things like circulating photos to people you don't see very often but want to stay in touch with.

I have pictures of myself their as well, and a few pictures of some of my level designing for PC games, although I need to add some more new pics. The reason I have so many music videos is because I truly have a passion for good music. The only other thing on earth that tops music, is women.

I have a myspace page (set to private) to keep in touch with high school and college friends (and of course fellow ADers, of whom there are a handful on my friends list ). I just recently did the facebook thing, but since I'm no longer in college, it seems much less useful (hardly anyone I know is on facebook). I use myspace mostly for picture-sharing and listening to music.
