We have had many discussions on this topic, mostly about what the news has reported, but we have yet to read what could actually get signed into law. There is supposed to be a different version being produced in the Senate, but it has not been posted yet. So, without further ado, take a gander at the House version that has been posted, and chime in. (If the link doesn't work, go to http://www.thomas.gov/ and search for Bill Number H.R.5140)

Questions for debate:

1) Does knowing the details of what your representatives are willing to do change your position on whether or not you support this package?

2) Are you finding anything particular in the bill that you think is either especially good or bad? If so, what is it?

What here is different from what has been discussed in the other thread that discusses this package?

I was on my way out the door this morning when I came across this. I don't know if there is anything. I have not had the time to read it yet, but I posted it so others can. Sorry if that was not clear. I would hope that the bill contains more details than "Most people will get at least $300."

My position has been and continues to be one of suspicion. Although I believe that the government takes too much money for citizens and squanders it in the web of bureaucracy, I am too suspicious of government in general to think that giving money back is from any altruistic motive.

If you mean good for me personally, then yes, I am delighted. With 8 children under 17, I am personally planning a nice spending spree-not to mention we are taking a real vacation. However, I remain in doubt as to any long term benefits. I am reasonably optimistic of some short term improvement in the economy though.
