Also i just saw this on the MSNBC homepage and thought it might look good, although it has NOTHING to do with oil it is nice to see that an iraqi division gives up. My question is do you think Iraq is breaking from within the organization heres a link to the MSNBC page http://www.msnbc.com/news/888769.asp?cp1=1

Since both America and Iraq figured these regiments of soldiers would give up, I wouldn't read too much into it. American forces have yet to deal with the Republican Guard outside of Baghdad, the only "truly loyal" soldiers of Saddam Hussein. Iraq has essentially said from the beginning they wouldn't really defend the deserts, but that they would "see us in the city."

The people more or less forced into combat are the ones currently surrendering, surprising neither us or them. It isn't a sign of anything yet.

I think this is the first real test of the Republican Guards loyalty. I expect a cakewalk. brutal regimes tend to inspire "loyalty" only when they have overwhelming power and can dish out rewards and punishments.
