How about this:

QUOTE
...[New Mexico Governor Bill] Richardson related an anecdote from one of the [presidential] debates:

He had fielded a question and then, as the next point went to another candidate, leaned toward Obama next to him on the stage and whispered, "'Boy some of these debates really boring, aren't they?' Or something like that. And he said, 'Oh god, yeah, you're right.' "

As the two were whispering, a question suddenly veered back to Richardson -- who hadn't been paying attention. "I looked at Obama and he says [whispering] 'Katrina. Katrina.' And I go back and say, 'Well, my three-point plan on Katrina is ...'

"Obama could have thrown me under the bus. But he didn't. So I said, 'Thanks, Obama,' and he said, 'Just listen next time.'"

So is that enough to draw Richardson's endorsement?

"There is something about him that has inspired a lot of people. I'm kind of torn there.... I will endorse someone."...

Questions for Debate:

1) Did Richardson say, "Thanks, Obama," "Thanks, Barack," or "Thanks, Barry"? dry.gif

2) Will Richardson endorse Obama? Why or why not?

3) Will Richardson have a spot on Obama's ticket if Obama is the nominee?

I don't understand why this question is important, but here's the answer.

From quick's link.

Whats the obsession with "Barry." Are you trying to link Obama with Barry Bonds? rolleyes.gif

This will be my only response to this thread.

I hope other ad.gif members will ignore quick's Obama hating, race baiting thread du jour .

Call it a boycott if you wish.

3) Will Richardson have a spot on Obama's ticket if Obama is the nominee?
He would be a great choice for VP for Obama. Great experience that so many seem to need people to have and obviously brings Latinos along.

Oh, just what I was not looking for! Another "So-and-so on Obama" thread! Do I win a prize if I collect them all? Do they combine into a giant mega-droid with kung-fu grip? How many UPC codes do I have to mail in to make it go away?

Lets try and keep everything constructive and on-topic. The questions for debate are:

1) Did Richardson say, "Thanks, Obama," "Thanks, Barack," or "Thanks, Barry"?

2) Will Richardson endorse Obama? Why or why not?

3) Will Richardson have a spot on Obama's ticket if Obama is the nominee?

It has become obvious that quick is engaged in a pattern of opening on a daily basis, threads about Barack Obama for no other reason than to hold him up for ridicule as the first question posed is totally irrelevant to serious debate.

I support and second, BoF's suggestion.

Let me get this straight--this thread hurts or ridicules Obama? Seems to me it makes him look like a rather nice guy, as Richardson so indicates. Of course, NT, you seem to have much in common with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and you can't help but throw-up a kneejerk--and illogical--reaction....

1) Did Richardson say, "Thanks, Obama," "Thanks, Barack," or "Thanks, Barry"?

He is quoted as saying "Thanks, Obama" which seems a bit odd. He did say he didn't know Barack Obama well, but I wonder if Obama's response was "No problem, Richardson"...

2) Will Richardson endorse Obama? Why or why not?

The guy is on the fence. He was Bill Clinton's Secretary of Energy (thanks for all the energy independence, Mr. Richardson) and Ambassador to the UN. Bill Clinton made him and he feels a sense of loyalty. But he is inspired by Obama as well. Not to mention nobody is the clear winner yet so endorsing so early would mean he might be out of a cake job in the next administration. What's a politician to do?

3) Will Richardson have a spot on Obama's ticket if Obama is the nominee?

Potentially. Some say he doesn't pull Hispanic voters the way he should, however, and I don't see New Mexico as a huge swing state. I doubt it will be Richardson, but he does have international experience which is Obama's big weakness.

By the way, as a general note, since Barack Obama is running for arguably the most powerful job in the world, he should be scrutinized on all levels, including who he associates with, how he reacts (this article puts him in a favorable light, not unfavorable), what his motivations are and any of a number of other angles. If he can't stand the scrutiny, don't run for President. There is no race baiting here and the questions are answerable. Please do not derail threads because of a personal animus towards the thread starter.
