Anchorage had a record snowfall on Friday/Saturday- many spring events cancelled etc-

http://www.adn.com/626/story/388142.html

for those of you that like some lighter news and human interest stories- check out the ADN site- peruse it a bit- one sad part is we did have one fatality, poor old duffer not wearing his seatbelt and was killed in an otherwise survivable accident. sad.gif

Also- for those of you with me on your "myspace friends"- you can see pics of my riding my motorcycle in 18 inches of snow! Plowing snow with the radiator of my motorcycle was a bit exhilirating- I was very, very bad in the AM, when I went to work, it was warm-ish and dry- so I didn't have my usual full gear on, as i was also running behind for work (no excuse, this is why people get hurt worse than they should! BAD CR!! blush.gif ) - so I had to ride home after a 13 hour shift in 18" of snow with my tennis shoes on- not to worry though- I didn't even get my feet wet, very much of an adrenelin rush, the whole way.

It was a mess, and now it is going away- but we ended up with over 2' of snow in my yard in one day!

Wow! ohmy.gif

I guess it would be in poor taste to tell you our weather in Long Beach has hit record highs the last couple of days...95+ degrees. wink.gif

Not really- I actually prefer it a little cooler than that- that is a bit too hot and miserable for me- leathers in 90* weather is NOT comfortable- rather sweat than bleed and all that- but you don't really cool off in that weather at speed.

I'm right there with ya, CR. I can't stand this kind of weather, especially not in April! August, September, October and sometimes November are ENOUGH. smile.gif

Send some of that cool air south!! laugh.gif

Alas, I miss that snow so much. Don't know if you checked out my introduction CR, But I lived in Alaska for about four years myself. Now, alas, I'm stuck here in Missouri where the weather is unpredictable and the people are nowhere near as friendly. cry.gif

Certainly explains the frozen brains that seem to permeate the frozen north.

Now I know why Alaska is a red state.

Not the red state you think it is BOF- we didn't go McCain- we went Ron Paul - we are red, white and blue my brutha- we believe in Freedom. Guys like you, DTOM and DR would like it here- even the politics. Author Musician would love it- Quarkhead would love it. Kmsouthern and Kimpossible would love it. Sleeper would love it. Doomed Planet would love it. Logo and Leder would REALLY love it. Logo and Leder would probably run for office and win. DTOM really would have a shot at governer. No foolin'. After all, we have more veterans and soldiers per capita than anyone in the nation- and, unfortunately, we have the highest WOT casualities per thousand in the nation. A crowd is there for every soldier that returns- dead or alive. Many don't even know the soldiers who they are showing support for- they just show up because every hero needs a welcome.

We love our diversity- it makes us most proud.

Freedom- it fills the mind and frees the soul as well. Clean air- and when our politicians are crooked and hypocritical- we get rid of them. Send them to jail. White people regularly elect people of color, as long as they get the job done. People say hello to you that don't know you- and help you when you need it as well- even when they don't know you as well.

Frontier places are free places. Just because we are repubican- doesn't mean we are a socially conservative state- or don't expect our politicians to hold up thier end of the bargain- for the most part. IT is hard with Ted Stevens and Don Young, because they have been effective. We had a corrupt republican leadership- and a horrible governer named Murkowski- he didn't make it past the primaries.

And we threw four corrupt politicians in jail. More to follow.

Our state ain't perfect- but we accept everyone. Those that don't accept everyone don't get validation from our state's citizens for being that way. We have crime, we have hatred, we have all the problems of the lower 48- same or worse in some cases, like with teen suicides and such.

But we also haven't become desensitized to it either. We still care, and are a young enough state to not have that care scrubbed off of us.

You would love it BOF- because we value our teachers and say so, often. thumbsup.gif
