This was tough: which
one of
Dontreadonme's posts to nominate?
I finally went with
this one from
The Surge in Baghdad (II). It is typical of several of
DTOM's posts (in a variety of areas) and, while he's had numerous convincing posts in all of the major forums here, he's made many persuasive contributions to threads on Iraq. This one combines terse rebuttal with research and reasoned response and also contains a remarkably honest coda, based on personal experience, which encapsulates his position and how it has evolved over the course of several years. It's not all that often that participants here change their minds on much of anything. To see it done with candor and humility in the context of the debate itself has been, for me,
very convincing.
